I agree but the lariat with the off-road package is priced similar to pro and is working to compete with it. Limited would have been a better choice.

The Ranger is still being sold down south. You see them driving around everywhere. But not as much as the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Hilux. The Ranger looks like it's a nice truck. But the Toyotas are proven over the years with happy customers because of their durability. That speaks more than magazine or online short term reviews.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
If only it had a N/A V6 option, like the 3.7 Duratec previously used in base model F150's and Mustangs. Engine was proven reliable, simple and made decent power. I won't touch an Ecoboost anything with a 30' pole, absolute junk! Having previously worked in a service shop I can't even tell you how many times Escapes came in for their first oil change and the turbo seals were already blown and leaking everywhere, some as early as 3000 miles! Not to mention, a lot of customers complained about having to have the heads replaced by 25k miles due to carbon buildup.. Ecoboost is a good idea, but as expected, poorly executed and rushed design. If they were actually reliable, they'd be great little engines, they build awesome power and get decent MPG.

A long-term review will include resale value. The Tacoma's best attribute. Based on prior Tacoma/Ranger models, the Ranger will depreciate quickly.

And this is coming from a person that passed on a 3rd gen because of poor shifting on multiple test drives.

Yep. Reliability factor too. Early reviews don't impress me too much. It's like a JD Powers best in "initial quality" award. However, I wouldn't mind if it turns out to be a good truck. Tacoma has dominated the smaller truck market for so long, they could use some competition.

Anyone who is a Toyota fan knows that they normally get demolished in comparisons. Toyota doesn’t do new and flashy. They do tried and true. Tacomas, in my opinion, have always been underpowered, overpriced and outdated compared to the competition. Knowing that, I still love them because I’ve never had a Toyota leave me on the side of the road. I love them even more when it’s time to trade it in.

Relax dude, it's just a news story about Ford Motor Company....I thought it pertinent in the Ranger thread:

Ford shares have fallen by roughly 32% since Jim Hackett assumed the role of CEO in May 2017, so it is clear that the market is not yet convinced that the company will be able to withstand the pressures of a recessionary economic environment.

Of course, there are still clear risks facing the company, one example can be found in the U.S. sales figures for Ford's F-Series truck, which have dropped by 5.8% over the last three months.
Ford's F-Series has produced some of America's best-selling truck for more than 40 years, and its high margins have helped generate consistent profitability for the company during that period.

But recent news events suggest this monthly downtrend could continue. In December, Ford announced a recall of 874,802 trucks in the U.S. and Canada, and this could dampen enthusiasm in the company's efforts to reignite sales of the F-Series in Ford's home market.

Years ago, Ford and Chevy put out pictures of concept - to be produced - sporty mid size pickups, they both looked great I thought, but Ford never released theirs and the Chevy didn’t do well.
I’m sure it’s tougher than ever to produce trucks between the new high tech and old “but we loved that.”
    Kudos to Ford for trying.

Lets see... Fox bypass front a rear, rear locker, larger diff, better breakover/angle of approach and departure, much better tires, MTS, crawl control, electronically controlled braking, BSM, moon roof, heated seats, auto headlights, from sensor that does all kinds of fun safety and convenience stuff, better speakers and tweeters, and I am sure I am missing more

Seriously dude.... I do not get what you are trying to prove... should we do a towing test between the Colorado Diesel and the Tacoma? That about on par with your comparisons

I am a big Ford guy.... always have been. Have had a lot in the past but you are making me hate them because of your shite :(

I’m excited to see the Ranger hit the road. Two weeks ago they finally released the pricing here and you can get a base model XL fairly well equipped with a locker for under 40K in CAD out the door without discounts factored in. A TRD Off-road here is almost 50K now once taxes, fees, and interest on a loan is figured out. For a starting point for an off-road vehicle the Ranger will be very attractive.

Not that I’m getting rid of the Tacoma. Im done buying new trucks for personal use lol.

The Iforce 5.7 still making better torque at lower RPMS.
