Why are you messing with the breather?

It's held in with some kind of teflon coating. I ordered a breather union by accident, and it's held it with friction and that teflon or plastic coating.

 

Because I'm going to relocate it to the engine compartment.

 

You like to drive in the water or something?

 

Seems completely unnecessary IMO. Once you get water up to there, you're going to have other things to worry about. It's already high enough.

I'm not hating on it or think it's dumb at all, I'm saying that it's unnecessary. The breather is already on top of the shifter plate basically inside the cab. If you do happen to get water up to that point, you will have other things to worry about.

 

Unlike you, I don't drive my truck into bodies of water.

 

I'm talking about the drainage ditch you drowned your truck in.

 

Remind me again how all of your electronic modules were corroded and broken.

 

I've already been in water deep enough to possibly get in the trans breather and I'm not even 4x yet.

The water it's self doesn't have to be deep enough... You create a wake when you drive through water.

I may never need it... I also don't want to ever have to worry about it.

 

Fair enough. I'll have to dig up the part I bought by accident, but it's a 'Breather Union' which is for the front differential. It's basically a tube with a 45 degree elbow with a barb on it, and the side that goes into the differential is coated in some kind of plastic or teflon. It'll come out with some force, theoretically.
