Amen! I wouldn't trade old Derek for anything! I just bought it last year from my dad. He bought it new in 03 because he was sick of working on Chevys! I do like Chevy trucks though, especially the old square bodies! My dad really liked the Tacoma, but not as much as I love it! It's my first truck and first vehicle, and I'm never selling it! The only reason my dad did was because he needed a bigger truck. He's got a Tundra now. My truck got a new frame last year for free! It has almost 265k and is still doin good! I named it Derek after some red cartoon pickup truck when I was a kid, but now I call it Weed! I just love telling my parents that I took Weed out to the lake! Driving old Derek around in the country and slingin mud is my favorite thing to do!

 

You have step side fenders, I've only seen 3 trucks with these fenders in person.

But I ain't naming it.
This was my gift to myself when I retired.

2006 AC AT5 V6 PreRunner. 58,000 miles when I got it in September.
Paid $17,000 cash.
It must have been babied and garaged because it's pretty minty.
Full service history at the Toyota website.
People are surprised when I tell them it's not new.
New frame and the usual stuff when the swap was done.
Only mod has been Dura-Fit seat covers.

I've owned a lot of trucks and cars over the years, some used, most new.
This is the nicest driving vehicle yet and exactly suits me.

Yeah, I owned a 4WD truck once and used the 4WD exactly twice.
Once during the test drive and one other time in the snow.
I don't offroad and I know how to drive in the snow, thanks.
I also know when to stay home and say to Hell with it. Ha.

Anyway, I'm hoping this is my last vehicle. It's really sweet.

Yes I do. I form a relationship with my vehicles. I like getting to know them and building a sense of confidence in them.

That's why I don't understand people who buy new cars all the time. Firstly it's a tremendous waste of money, but I guess some people are rich enough to blow tens of thousands without caring, good for them. Secondly, you end up not feeling like you get to know your vehicles. I trusted my Fords with my life. Those things were tanks.

I like customizing my interior and having it that way for years.

The Tacoma on the other hand, I've come to realize any day little shit will always start fucking breaking. Nothing big but it will annoy me regularly with little shit LOL.

 

Not me,they come and go just like everything in life.

Bought mine new in 2010 after frame rust claimed my beloved 2000 Taco. The longer I have it the more I love it! Got 135k on it. I hope to get at least 20 years out of it, still 11 more to go!
