    ^ This.

If all else fails, you need to get your money back on that warranty. I've done it before, and it is quite an easy process. Depending on your milage, you'll get a prorated amount back, which is actually quite reasonable.

I’m Absolutly going too because I paid for every extra warranty that Toyota had to offer and if that’s the case I’ll cash all the extras in and then use that to pay for it I guess super unhappy and this whole situation completely turned me off on Toyota’s and their customer service

This should be covered under factory warranty. No need to even mention the additional warranty.

Should Absolutly be covered under factory warranty apparently the service manager doesn’t think the same way and is giving me an insanely hard time about the whole thing

Demand that you meet with a factory zone rep and that they inspect your truck. Unless you were doing burnouts, the differential issue is covered by the factory warranty. The auto trans should have blown before the diff.

A warranty is a performance contract...if you feel you didn’t receive the benefit of your bargain the very contract thought to raise and limit your actions...file a claim list the facts on sheet of paper call it and “affidavit of truth” that will get the ball rolling...

Thanks ronzio hope it doesn’t have to come down to that but if it does it does there is no reason why this should have happened if the truck had 118000k on it I can understand but not 18k

If there's any mud or bullshit on the truck wash it off. If it looks like you just got back from mud bog weekend at Bernie's I could imagine they'll rush to judgement.

The truck is sitting at the dealer and I did wash it 2 days before I brought it but I’m constantly on dirt roads so everything was dusty and under the truck was a littler dirty but not muddy

Always always give them as little info as possible. I’d just take it in drop it off and say fix it. That’s it.

Well I would not even mention the diff. I’d just say it stopped driving and now making some funny noise near the back of the truck.

Ok, so that is bull shit... your truck is still under factory warranty, and as such you have a few legal protections. Read your “Owner’s Warranty Rights Notification” booklet that came with your purchase (was with your other owner and maintenance manuals). There is an outlined three step process for Customer Satisfaction:

Step 1 - contact the dealership
Step 2 - call the Toyota customer experience center
Step 3 - arbitration (note, Toyota must abide by the NCDS decision, however the customer does not)

If the above process does not remedy your issue to your satisfaction, you may then pursue small claims court. Review the claim form in the center of the stated booklet, ensure Toyota recorded all pertinent info or file a written claim so NCDS gets involved... good luck.

I agree with a lot of folks that have already commented:

    1) get money back on extended W
    2) Clean the truck up a bit.
    3) Take it to another dealer next (should be under power train warranty). Just tell them it made a noise then blew up. From what I read above - you were using it like a truck. Dirt Roads and towing shouldn’t blow up the diff. These trucks are built for that. And if you did do something that was putting that much strain on it, you should have gotten a warning on the dash before.
    4) If another dealer doesn’t cover it, I’d take it to an independent shop and have them inspect it. Have THEM repair it and document all of it. They’ll probably be much cheaper and might be willing to vouch for you in small claims court. Tell them what Toyota is doing and they may take a little pity on you on cost. (If you source the parts from one of the Toyota wholeseller shops like Rogers Toyota or Toyota of Olathe, you could save some money there too and an independent shop may work with you to knock off labor if you bring them all the parts. Plus by going Toyota parts, you should still be covered under your warranty in the future.
    5) Take Toyota to court/ arbitration for reimbursement for what you spent to have it repaired + time + rental, etc etc. Raise a stink with Toyota Customer care and see if the independent shop will back you up with documentation of how/ why it failed

That sucks though..... unless there is more to this story, there is no reason Toyota shouldn’t cover that.
