My spot is now 110% available...#287 SOLD SOLD SOLD! Thank you guys!

Bought something else which suited my needs better, and really stoked to see someone else rock the GFC!

I messaged everyone back who had messaged me first. Please let me know if interested, and we can get in contact with the GFC guys after the New Years!

What did you end up with? I know you were looking around at everything like a guy still alone in a bar at closing time.

It was both sleeping length and room to hangout. It’s nice to have some standing room while changing and not have to interrupt the girlfriend that could be sleeping. Thankfully I’m a small enough guy where I can get away with only removing one small square so I can stand up and change. Also not having to pack up all the bedding while still having standing room is nice. Currently I’d have to fold up all the sleeping bags onto the front most part of the wedge and try to balance the big rectangle pad on the sleeping bags so we have a good amount of room in there. It would be easier with the drifter. I’m not complaining at all, I do think both campers require different styles of camping. But it’s something to consider!

Yeah the bedding thing doesn’t bother me a bit... I use a compressible sleeping bag (or two). Stuff it in a stuff sack and toss it and my pillow into a box in the back of my truck bed... done in what 45 seconds... literally. I guess if you wanted a set up like the Mariot you with sheets in a comforter etc this wouldn’t be as good a choice.... but really it’s not even an inconvenience with a sleeping bag.

But as you said to each his (or her) own. My gfc has been ideal so far. I have no regrets at all. Well that’s not true. I wish it got here FASTER and I could have used it more last year.

Yes! Canvas just has a layer of dirt on it. Not a single rust spot. Was owned by a 92 year old man. I will most likely have to build a frame for it with 4x2's. I spoke with the owner and he had FRP add a bottom piece to rise it up more. Should fit my DCLB perfectly after the frame is built. Tomorrow is the day I find out if it fits...:fingerscrossed:

Due to changing circumstances, I will no longer need my build spot as well. My deposit has been full paid ($500). If anyone is interested in taking my place, I would simply need $500 and we can email Graeme.

My build spot is more then 125 spots ahead of if you placed an order today. Please PM me for details! Happy New Years everyone!!

I decided to go with the side door on the tent. I don't think I'll ever use it as a door, but I love the large windows on my current Tepui tent. I've been afraid I'll miss the large side windows and the skylights when I make the switch, so any chance to get a bigger window I'm good with.

    I'm in the same boat.

Hoping I don't miss all the windows and light/views I get from my Tepui tent now.

The GFC roof is translucent so you'll get a lot of diffused light.
Maybe GFC ought to offer a slightly shorter bed panel option that would allow for air/heat circulation. You could then have a fan down below with an external vent that would help with condensation. Not everyone needs a 90" sleeping platform.
Standard beds are ~80". OTOH the extra long bed may enable sleeping with the head towards the apex.
I wonder when GFC is going to offer the tent insulation option?

Ha. I was planning on doing the exact same thing for next winter... but I’m going to do a hinged grated panel to cover the opening so my sleeping bag won’t fall down onto the heater while it’s running just in case
