That's because I hadn't gotten to that part yet  I welded that too, both sides inside and out.

I know I saw the welds in the pic with the painted finished part. Was trying to get B to double take and actually come in with a savage comment that fails. Now my fun is ruined:pout:

    Right!?!

I was think the same thing. That and glad we no longer weld on a cardboard box. It would have been difficult to lift the truck & put it on a box to weld.

Did you see that person's comment about that welding table having a zinc coating, randy??

Don't want you to get overcome with fumes if it's true.

Old school pro tip: apply a thin layer of vaseline on the parts you don't want paint on. Then wipe it off later......

Is there a set time to leave the vaseline on before working on it? Prep time?

Yeah I saw, and he's right. That's why you never weld zinc coated things because the fumes can make you sick. Not poisonous (like many welders think) but just real sick for a day or two. I'll be cautious about it though, that's for sure.

I have found vaseline keeps its elasticity for a couple days....(science research)

Latex gloves are the extent of the prep work.

Can you just throw a welding blanket over the top to mitigate the fumes??

My acetone on a rag trick works as well. I was going for speed and just getting it done. Once I get that lower section bedlined then ZFG about over spray.

I think he means your head. Throw a blanket over your head as you are welding to mitigate the fumes. Seems like a legit suggestion to me. :anonymous:

Still well worth it imo. Our reason for doing it was to get a much higher quality shock in there without sacrificing travel. I can’t wait to do it to my truck as well.
