Hey guys, I just booked a family trip out to the pigeon forge area for July. Researching some stuff to do. Is it worth driving my truck from NJ as far as wheeling or mountain rides go? If not, were going to take the Acura and save gas.

 

You’re going to be pretty close to windrock. It’s awesome, and massive. Everything from gravel roads to double blacks.

 

I'm just thinking about that summer tourist crowd...

Lots of wheeling within 1.5 hours of the area.

Windrock is by Knoxville but I would recommend at least a day out there to get your moneys worth, it is huge. Cherokee National Forest has plenty of mountain driving to be had, also. Max Patch would be cool with the family

Went to Holly Springs last night to make a fire. Didn't have enough time to camp, just wanted to get the family out and be naturey for the day.

It was wet but I was determined. I completely failed to make a campfire, very frustrating. I'll have to go back out and try again asap.

Meanwhile, while Googling, I saw that people suggested using Doritos to start a fire. Anyone tried that? If not, watch the youtube video and be entertained.

Using chips works well, have done it multiple times in my shops wood burning stove.

 

9 volt battery and steel wool, vassaline and cotton ball, blow torch for the win!

 

Cotton rounds dipped in wax. Waterproof and will burn for about 10 minutes.

 

If your gonna do business like that, I think I'll just go to prelfybuilt. They treat their customers better.

Light the fire @beertimecontinuum way and stick the maap gas torch upside down with the trigger jammed open into a cocksucker of wood and come back 20mins later to a nice fire. Figure I was for sure going to see one of you Southerners loose one of the few teeth y'all have left from a gas bottle rocketing across camp when I first saw that.

 

That's an old girl scout trick I learned from Matt @mwc273 ...also because it rains on all our meets and wet wood

 

If it's really wet, you might need two cocksuckers.
