Before digging into the 2019 parts catalogs for ECU parts...

Did locksmith know it was a 'used' key?
A previously paired key will require the ECU to be wiped with tokens (and 15 minutes of agony) and all keys (including the used key) re-paired to it.

A new (never paired key) doesnt require the ECU wipe, just paired with techstream in a few seconds. It's much easier to do with a new key, is why I ask...

Reviewed parts catalogs online. I see no indication that security ECU has changed (but not guaranteeing it).
You will need to pull apart your 2019 key and compare it to the reference data in the first post. (The data printed on the circuit card inside the key)

What are “house keys”? Electronic front door lock for us... plus garage entry. I’ve only carried electronic keys, including office access, for the last 12 years. Now if I could only get the post office to change out those old style mailbox metal keys to a push button combo...

    Same here.

I also can't see how the key in the card would get bent. Anything that's going to do that kind of damage can't be good for me or my wallet, so I probably have bigger issues to deal with.

Has anyone sent one of these through the washing machine? Asking for a friend. :anonymous:

Any chance it will still work?

I couldnt find a good picture of this. Is there no buttons at all? I ask because now I have to decide between auto start and this. And I hate to admit it but I might be more inclined to auto start

No buttons, designed to stay in the wallet and you just use the smart handles to lock and unlock.

Mine went in the pool and still worked fine - I did pull the battery and let it dry out before trying it, but haven’t had problems since.

Thank you. Someone who's helpful instead of a jack ass seems to be a rare commodity at times.

Well after doing some more research I am adding the cell phone module to my auto start which makes the key an option again.

Without digging thru the whole thing has anyone found a source for new keys on the cheap? And has anyone got this working on a 19 already

I don’t get it either. They’re losers with nothing better to do I think.

Side note, I went to two Lexus dealers and neither would cut my key. Both said they only cut in house keys, meaning I needed to buy it from them, and both said they cut by code and couldn’t simply trace my toyota key.

Any locksmiths out there willing to cut mine? I’ll send you both keys, you cut and send back?

I'd also love to know if anyone has gotten this working on a '19. What is it about the cell phone module that lets this work with the remote start?

I bought a used key on ebay and had the dealer reprogram it and the other 2 keys fine on my 2017.

*Edit* not a very useful comment to your post after a 2nd read through lol.

I checked with one Dealership and they want to hit me for two hours of labor to sync my used card from my ‘17 to the ’19. Not Hardly!!
Will check with another Dealership and Locksmith.

Also my ‘19 Fob’s ID #’s match with the ‘17 Fob.

With the app you can start and unlock/lock the truck. Auto start by itself needs buttons. So this key with no buttons wont jive. Add the smart module and app you don't need buttons anymore
