Hey team, gonna be getting King 2.5 (700 lb springs) extended OEM on all four corners with DK UCAs. I'm planning on possibly Icon 3-leaf Progressive AAL for the rear (if I have to). Gonna be hauling so much air so not concerned about rear weight. Will I need anything else for this little lift in the rear? Can this set up handle the whoops with better non hydro bump stops (wheelers, timbren, etc)? How about with stock leafs? Not wanting dakars cause I don't want to level with so much lift. Currently have about 300 lbs of metal on truck (full steel skids and sliders). Will I also need diff drop, and/or all those extra "must have with lift" parts to keep this build reliable should I go leveled with the AAL route (1.5" rear lift)?

Extended brake lines. You'd *probably* be safe without them, but why risk it.

I'd go for medium Dakars personally, but I don't see anything particularly "wrong" with your setup. I have kings on the corners and a dakar heavy pack on mine. You should be fine in the rollers without upgraded bumps, but I would do so to make sure things bump when they are supposed to.

Extended brake lines are probably gonna happen anyway at some point. Would it be silly if I just used stock leafs and aftermarket bumps? I'm happy with the stock rear height. Not sure if I'll be getting the full benefits of the Kings though or if it matters.

Short answer is you won't get the full benefit at stock height. That isn't to say you won't notice a drastic improvement. You will, but not the FULL benefit. A stock rear leaf pack will have the shock piston higher up in the travel range than a leaf pack that has 3" of lift associated with it.

"up travel" is the travel that you generally associate with shock feel / cushion. The shock's purpose is damping the load placed on the springs and cushioning your movement. OEM Kings have ~8 inches of travel, so if a stock pack left your shock piston in the middle of the range at rest, you would only get 4 inches of up travel so 50% of the overall benefit. If you lifted the back end, you would be resting much lower in the piston's travel, so you would have 6+ inches of upward travel for the shock to do it's job.

UNLESS you go full send and get all 4 tires off the ground...then you will feel all 8 inches as you return to Earth regardless. :mudding:

**the resting numbers are guesstimated, but you can see where I'm going with it.**

Wheeler's has lots of good options as well. Including King hydro-stops.

I have extended travel as well (ADS not Kings) and with the Medium Dakars I have 4" of compressible shock rod until the bump bushing on the rod. I have 5.5" of down travel while sitting flat. The dakar's will give you more flex capability and the Medium's are a nice way to go for the described situation.

I guess I'll lift it it a little with a 3-leaf AAL from a local bro for now. Anyone have issues with preloading the 700 lb springs? I'm a noob to this and I appreciate all your responses.

I'm a 2nd gen running 650s, but with your 3rd gen and some armor, you should be ok.

That's not a mid travel setup either way. Just stock replacements, but an upgrade for sure

But based on what the TW says, it is. Now I'm not sure. Lol. Either way, it's gonna happen.

I wouldn’t be too concerned if it is or isn’t. I would get the total chaos king bumpstops if you are going King. I want to build mine similar to yours. Extended C/O up front and rear bypass of some sort and hydro bump.

Bump stops are in the plans but leaning towards the plasticsguy ones vs the hydro bumps.
