Trans problems after repair

No word yet but I’m going to give them a call to make sure they are actually tearing down the trans to check it.

 

Word of advice: A call is not the same thing as showing up in person. It is in your best interest to make the responsible party look you in the eye and admit culpability and explain in detail what they are going to do correct the error.

Accept nothing verbal. Later on when (not if) you have a problem their recollection will not include the words they spoke ( yes, full tear down and inspection it will be better than new when we are done) Additionally they will try to shift blame to the Toyota dealership they took it to for evaluation. Demand a full report in writing.

You dumped all or most of the fluid, burned clutches and the subsequent disintegrated friction material dispersed throughout the trans/cooler/lines is a concern.

 

Just an obvious piece of advice to anyone facing this- make sure its a Toyota certified bodyshop, or there will be major warranty issues if it isn’t.

 

Your high temp light never came on .
When they pop the pan off the transmission , I would most certainly be there to watch them cut the filter open and look to see whats sitting in the pan

 

It has to be removed from the car to do that, not just the pan coming off. After gone into like that wouldn't make me any more happy.
Looking in the pan is not a catch all.
Pull the pump.

 

As mentioned above (@Pro-Taco), in addition to other items ask the dealer to give the you the 'ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate' from techstream. Not 100% sure its available for your engine, but I think.

You do understand that Toyota dealerships do not take transmissions apart .
Even if there was a pump issue or further in depth problems with the transmission , the Toyota dealer will not be tearing the trans down .
If lucky , they will pull the pan and filter , but most likely just a scan of the ecm will be all they will do

 

Is the temp sensor attached to something, or does it read fluid temp?
If there's no fluid to measure, then it can't overheat lol.

 

2 temp sensors both in the valve body . If the truck was moving under its own power , the sensors were working fine lol
