Then I BET the same key card will work for the '19 that has worked for everyone previously. I bet it is just people that don't know the process to prepare a 'used key' (security ECU Wipe) vs a 'new key' (Add key)

After doing a 'new key' once, and a 'used key' once, and if cost is a concern, I would personally jump in with both feet on doing it yourself... Get a OBDII dongle (or the OVtune cable works too). Locate one of the copies of Techstream (or get it with a dongle). Pay the ~$30 for the tokens online and do the security reset. I would provide you one of my unused tokens, but I gave all the unused ones away....

This is obviously no guarantee, but a number of us have done it, nobody has mentioned any brick failures that I have heard of when doing keys.
I think i recall @sayjuh even saying his computer went to sleep during the 15 minutes of misery, and even that was recoverable without any major issues, so it seems the process probably isn't too dangerous (best guess)

I think this is how I'll have to do this. To use a used key they want 120 for programming and the new key cut an programmed is over 400. so 370ish for a used or 400 for new is all out of budget.

If I can find a key in the 100 range I'll do it all myself.

Here is one I wrote for someone else. Probably should make a post with just the most complete instructions we can..

For reference, here is some instructions I wrote up for somebody else. I don't guarantee that this is 100% correct. REMEMBER DON'T LET THE FLASHING COMPUTER GO TO SLEEP. RESET YOUR WINDOWS SLEEP TIME BEFORE STARTING THIS. If anything goes wrong, as long as its the same VIN, seems like you can reuse the token.

When you register a new (never used) fob to an existing truck it doesnt take any passcodes. When you register a used key to a brand new (or reset) ECU it doesnt take any passcodes if you register the keys as the next step as soon as you reset the ECU. What takes a passcode is resetting your ECU to forget the old keys, (which also makes it accept previously used keys at that time).

Here is the process as best as I can recall... sitting at work still waking up...

    Materials
You need a TOKEN from weboctopus or similar. Only need 1, hard to buy less than 5. I gave away all my unused tokens, so I don't have any more to give away. Need to buy tokens before you start this process.
You will need a dongle to connect truck to laptop, and the associated drivers. ( I have used one off the internet for $35 or so, and have also used OVtune dongle)
You need a copy of working techstream, from last year or 2, can be hacked copy, etc. (I am using one that came with cable).
You need laptop with techstream installed with working internet at the truck.
You need all the keys you wish to use with the truck. If you want to add a used lexus card key or another normal dongle that is used (Ebay), now is the time. (If you want to add brand new never used fob in the future, that is fine...)
Need truck and a some decent time (a bout 30 mins)
Recommend battery charger (trickle or whatever) to put on the truck while you do this, dont want battery dying on you in the middle...

Note, these are steps from memory. Not guaranteed to be complete.

First, run truck awhile to get battery voltage up, or put on charger for awhile. Make sure laptop is charged or plug it into the wall.

Turn on ignition (do not start). (2 presses on button without foot on brake.)

Turn off all lights, overhead lights, turn off radio screen, etc to minimize battery use.

Put laptop on seat so you aren't touching it or touching any cables while process goes on... (it takes 15 mins at one step alone.)

Start laptop and start techstream and connect to truck. (Plug laptop in to outlets unless you know that it has plenty of life). Make sure laptop is set to not go asleep, etc.

Go to immobilizer menu in techstream. Select immobilizer ECU reset.

Bunch of warning and info pop up (READ THEM)

Techstream will give out the SEED.

Put that seed and the token into weboctopus (or whatever the token is from) webpage (on internet)

Weboctopus (internet) will give back the passcode.

Put passcode into techstream, and wait 15 mins for ecu to reset.
(if this process fails for any reason, start over, put new seed and same token into weboctopus)

Once ecu is reset, all existing keys no longer work, and any previously used keys can be installed at this time only. (Brand new never used keys can be added later without token).

When instructed to by techstream, hold each key one at a time to the push to start button area on the dash.

All done, shut off ignition and try it out.

Note, that isnt every tiny detail and screen, but I hope that helps.

I just programmed a used key card to my 17 4Runner. I din't buy any tokens. I used a locksmith to do a "virginized" on my used key. It cost me about $18.00 and postage to the vendor. I found him on ebay. Here is a link to the auction that I paid for: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Unlock-SER...h=item5d79c52771:g:MrUAAOSwbHZaV8TP:rk:4:pf:0. I mailed my card to him on Monday. and had it back on Friday of the same week. I then used Techstream to pair the key card (as a new unpaired card). Just another option to consider.

Thanks for mentioning your results. Saw those offers but hadnt heard of anybody trying it yet.
About how many days from shipping to returned key?

If you only have 1 key to do, and dont want to mess with tokens, seems like a nice option.

I am in NC, and the locksmith is in PA. Two day priority from me to him, and he shipped it back with two day priority.

I am interested in this but have purchased pop and lock for rear tailgate. I am guessing on approach once I pull drivers door it will engage the pop and lock as long as the pop and lock is tied into the drivers side door??

If you tied it into the drivers door it would activate whether you used a remote or the Lexus key. If your settings are that only the driver side unlocks and you don't want to engage the pop n lock, you can wire it to the passenger side.

I have mine set to unlock all doors as once because I have the passenger door smart key mod which also engages my pop n lock. The p&l is wired to the passenger side which IMO is a lot easier to run the wiring. @KTJO 4x4 sells a really nice passenger side plug and play harness kit for the power tailgate kit.
