Curious on opinions about Sr5's vs TRD sports and off roads. How well does the sr5 traction control work?

I'm curious to hear more on this topic too. I guess with upgraded suspension and tires the sr5 should be very close? Except when you run into terrain that will require lockers (crawling mode etc.)

I'd love to see a SR/SR5 on low-traction rollers or moguls with a front wheel in the air to confirm any pseudo-ATRAC that may occur in 4wd...

TRD Sport suspension is the same as the SR5 isn't it? Off Road and Pro are different. I have been wondering the same thing. How capable is the SR5 4wd off road? I'd love to go to an Offroad Park at some point but have no idea what I would be doing. I think the biggest thing lacking is a rear locker. ARB sells a locker. We also don't have any terrian management or crawl control.

No, it's different from the SR5, Off Road, and Pro

No. Off Road/Sport/Pro are different shocks. SR5 and Limited have the same shocks.

Sport has stiffer front springs than SR5 and OR. SR5 sits in between, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure about the rear leafs.

SR5 4x4 is very capable in stock form. For 99% of owners, they will likely never need the extra capability of the OR. There will be nothing they can't do in the SR5 that they could do in the OR.

I made up that 99% statistic. But it's probably not far off.

My SR5 has done just fine the few times I have wheeled it (I've never crawled with it). I've seen many posts on this forum of people who bought an SR5, did aftermarket suspension/lockers, and ended up with a better offroad vehical for less money than a TRD pro....

There are downside to a pro as well. For example, the ATRC system needs a bigger, more boosted master cylinder. If it goes out, it's much more expensive to replace (like an extra grand). Something to consider when your truck gets older...

It's all relative. Here in Maine I consider something good off road if it lets me move around my unplowed property in winter and can get to some fishing ponds that are at the end of unmaintained dirt roads.

Someone out west might consider it something that can do MOAB or do miles and miles of rough trails. Our measuring sticks are a lot different

Totally agree that and good set of tires makes
think the off road and sports have one extra leaf I might be wrong. When I bought my truck all three were next to each other and both trds sat slightly higher over the sr5

Driver and tires are most important. Pretty sure the locker only works in 4 low anyway which Is disappointing if that’s true . If you plan on wheeling that hard truck should have a winch or a buddy to help pull you out imo !

Not as good as OR an Pro cause of locker an atrac an that hideous chin spoiler:annoyed: so fugly. But honestly the sr5 will be great with right choice in tires an driver.
Youd be really suprised what the truck is capable of stock an mods will just enhance that or get you stuck further out.

It does well, but everyone knows the hood scoop on the sport gives you 15 more horsepower

My wimpy SR5 will work as well off road for me as my 2000 4.0 Wrangler did... for the type off roading I do.

I did put a set of Sport wheels and Toyo 265/65-17 tires on it thou.
