Erh, oops, I didn't mean to say the whole order was discounted...just the out of stock stuff. Thanks for keeping me honest.

Yeah, you're doing it the smart way. Once :D.

Agreed - 2 days is on the ball - especially for a big custom order!

Has anyone actually blocked the vent off completely? I would think it could be harder to close the doors and possibly hard on the ears when the doors close.

I wouldn’t mess with the vents, but people have sealed them shut. You can always leave it on recirculate to keep them closed.

I never planned on messing with the flow volume of that vent.. I was just wondering if anyone was bold enough to do it.

I put Stingers crap on the back wall and floor of 3 f150's(about 10 sheets per truck, double layer on the back wall). On the first one they told me to cover the vents... On the second one they told me to cover the vents and cut a few holes in the material..... on the third truck they told me not to cover the vents at all!

I don't think the ride was too enjoyable with the vents covered.

Recirculate on the ventilation system has nothing to do with the rear vents.

When you put it on Recirculate, it closes a "door" that cuts off most of the air that enters the cab(I would guess around 90%) from the fresh air intake/vent.

The rear vents have no mechanical connection, they work off of pressure(Too much pressure in the cab, the vents release excess pressure).

The vents closing and opening depending on whether it’s on recirculate or not sure sounds like the button controls the vents.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that...
I'd like to do this in my truck to reduce outside noise caused by roof racks and accessories. Any numbers on how much outside noise reduction was achieved? In terms of outside noise reductions was the modification worth it?

Outside noise reduction depends a lot on the tires, speed & road type. If you deadened the roof & put some melamine foam it would help for sure, but it isn't the biggest benefit to overall road nose. The doors, floor, and the cabin vent produce most of the in cabin road noise.

It's a lot of work, but if you like working on cars & don't mind spending the money for the matters I would say it is worth it.

I used RAAM audio and have been really impressed so far. I am considering doing the whole floor, etc but Just haven't gotten bold enough.

Sound deadening and sound absorption, make sure you know which one want to accomplish. Two different types of materials and techniques.
