I can drive about 45 miles after my gas gauge is below empty before running out..

Usually roughly 200miles per half a tank depending on driving habit/what type gas.

    Mine's pretty consistent...

    - 50 when the needle hits the "F" mark
    - 110-120 at 3/4 tank
    - 210-220 at 1/2 tank
    - 310-320 at 1/4 tank

I usually fill up at 1/4 tank but if I take an extra round trip or two to work I'll hit 385-400 miles when the light comes on.

I had 255 miles for the first half of my current tank of gas. And I now have 395 miles and I'm just a hair under a 1/4 tank.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
If they would just switch to a vertical float instead of the arm type, it would be more accurate.

I hate how that happens. Do you think there is any way of fixing the needle so it reads with more precision?

Due to the arc of the sensor arm, you will not get an acurate reading of fuel.

If you really want it to act crazy, disconect the speed sensor plug from the trans. Then you can really "see" what the float is doing.

Maybe it has something to do with the shape of the tank...
