That may the problem. I didn’t use one. I’m not seeing extra wires (presumably from the antenna) to connect to an adapter. The only wire from the truck not connected appears to the XM cable seen in the prior pic.

So you don’t have your antenna plugged in to the pioneer stereo? If not that IS your problem. What year? Should be an amplified antenna so you need to power up the antenna adapter

So this a pic of the back of a 2017. You should have a white connector on the right which is your antenna. You DO need the Metra adapter. That black wire is your antenna amplifier turn on wire

Yes - The Metra adapter is what connects your antenna to the 8400.

The blue wire you are holding in your hand goes to the blue/white wire coming from the HU. There should be 2 wires that go to the blue/white. 1 from the maestro and the other from the antenna connector.

Just in case you didn't know, Amazons picture of the Metra cable is wrong. It has one Antenna end and one blue wire. This is the accurate picture:

    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_12040...nna-Adapter.html?search=metra_40lx11&skipvs=T

On the above antenna cable, The blue wire goes to power ( I connected it to the amp-on blue or blue/white and it works ).

With the pioneer both the HD FM and XM reception is vastly improved with the OEM antennas.

vkk is correct - The Amazon picture is misleading.

Has everyone had good luck with the 8400? I'm about to swap my 8200 for an 8400 because the 8200 I have is a crashy, flaky, POS.

Does the wireless android-auto/carplay work good? Any issues?

EDIT: Talked with Maestro who said it's a pioneer issue and reported the bug to Pioneer tech support.

Anyone seen info pop up in the steering heads up display for CarPlay? I realized it appears randomly but once there it stays. I did have luck using the source button on the steering wheel to a different source then the source back to CarPlay to get the info but haven’t tested extensively yet to know if it’s perfectly reproducible. I’m wondering whether this is a maestro or pioneer bug. In this instance I’m using tidal via CarPlay but same applies to Spotify or any other CarPlay audio source.

And if anyone has no problem getting this on startup then it’s a problem with my unit but I remember someone else saying earlier just “WiFi” shows up.

Wireless CarPlay works great and love the unit so far. Sound is great. Had it less than a week so no long term input to provide. My XM stopped working today but I’m thinking it’s the external tuner and not the head unit itself.

Try doing a reset on the Maestro RR through the radio. My pioneer has a section in settings called "OEM Settings" and under there I have an option to do a hard reset on the Maestro RR.

I have done a hard reset and reprogrammed as well. Sounds like it works for you so I’ll have to call maestro

I don't have a Gen 3 so my truck doesn't have the cluster display... I don't know much about the Gen 3 integration to be honest.

Does anyone know if the secret software parking bypass works on the 8400 NEX? The one where you turn source off and touch a spot near the bottom left corner for a while?

I managed to get the OEM Microphone wired up and working with just a few parts from Amazon. However, it's is prototypical right now and needs more work. The mic works and people can hear me talk, but it's a bit noisy so far from perfect yet. I know there's a solution in the works as a product by some forum members but I wanted to see if I could get it working after looking at the service manual since that product is not yet available and has been in the works for a while. Need to figure out the noise in the circuit and it's probably from voltage conversion so going to try a few things. Happy to share if anyone's interested.

I can attest to that. With built in nav, you can source off and hold left bottom corner for a bit to bypass the parking brake.
