I know nothing about running a website and hosting and all that other stuff, but I have a question about saving pics.

Is it something that the site has done that makes it so that you can not right click on a pic and get a "save image as" or whatever? The reason I ask is because there have been some great pictures shown on here that would be great to be able to save and use on our company site. Namely the "Show off your CBI fabbed gear" thread in our vendor folder. Or is it something that I am just to retarded to figure out. Thanks

some people's work block sites like photobucket, flickr, etc. so I made it so TW actually downloads those pics and hosts them on our server so people can still see them during the day. except we don't want everyone hotlinking to the pics hosted here so we do some shenanigans so they can't be right-clicked and hotlinked.

long story short, disable javascript in your browser then reload the page and you can download the pics.

some of this, a little of that
If the pic is in a post and you cannot just right click it try using the quote button. THen you can save it from the quote window usually.

Thanks for the work around Jester. Not being able to right click and save pics was starting to annoy me.

Disregard what I said above, quoting the post and saving from there does not work either.

It's official, I find this very annoying.

Try to double click the pic. Then ctrl+c

Then open up word and ctrl+v

    Usually works for me.

    Ahhhh that's why!

I always thought it was for security measures. If you know the link of the pic you can really check out that person's other albums in his/her photbucket, etc

Problem with doing this your breaking things. You probably don't even realize it.

In firefox if the picture is too small you can well zoom in I have it set to right / left click to make the picture bigger and right center button to make it smaller again.

Nope not here, it's broken cause of you block the right click.

Breaking web standards to I might add.

Ok forget the pictures for a second. It's also is breaking the spelling checker. Only a single word spelt wrong will be underlined. If you have several they will be all underlined till you correct one then all the underlines will vanish. That only happens here. Your quick and dirty block the right click is breaking things. Who gives a shit if somebody wants to load a picture on the new tab to zoom in full screen? Poor system of blocking hot linking.

If people try hot linking check to see if there logged in or don't serve the picture. That is the way it should be done. At least then you not breaking peoples browsers in the mean time. Check to see if they have a valid cookie for the site before forwarding images. That is what cookies are for. Do it right no some stupid hack.

It's a stupid hack that does not even work. A quick edit and a Grease Monkey script can take care of your shenanigans.

    Block this :
So do it right or don't do it at all. Check for a valid cookie. A even easier way to get around your stupid hack: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8753/ So if it's just plain broken anyway get rid of it and do it right.

it's meant to block casual hotlinking...of course there's ways around it.

clearly it's bothering you to the point of rage. an unexpected, but hilarious side effect

Ya it's kind of pissing me off. I could live with it breaking full screen image zoom but breaking the spelling checker as a side effect has ticked me right off. The only reason I'm pointing it out is I run my own board and there is a way to do what they are trying to do correctly without breaking things so I thought I'd point it out.

I'll remove the right-click block on the pics since it's making you guys jump through hoops to download pics.

thanks to trap for the pm but was unable to reproduce the spell check issue
