The Toyota pickup is an iconic utility vehicle with humble US beginnings.

It’s iconic because it’s arguable the best small utility vehicle ever made. Globally.

    Oh and this guy.

The fact that you need to be reminded of this is disheartening

Your not going to get the luxury you had in a bmw out of a tacoma. That being said, the practicality and utility of a truck cannot be beat. New trucks are not cheap and I’m sure you paid a pretty penny for yours. Keep it for a little while at least.

I had an Audi before my taco. Initially, I missed the Audi. After a few months though, I stopped missing it and started to really appreciate having a truck instead of a sedan. That being said, I also have a sportbike...

True, that could be the case, but some of us old guys at that point might just like our second truck to represent the old days.

I have owned 7 full size trucks so I knew going to a Tacoma was a huge size difference. that said, I WANTED the Taco more than I wanted any of those other trucks. I worked for our local dealer back in 1994 and always liked the trucks. I just never bought one until Feb 2018. I have had a plethora of vehicles since I was 15 years old. 41 to be exact. all different makes and models. I came from a Subaru Crosstrek to my Tacoma, knew what I wanted and had them dealer trade mine in. and I love my truck to this day. put some more miles on it and enjoy it for what it is. add some stuff to "personalize" it the way you want it. I can almost guarantee you start modding it, you will be hooked. post some pics up, let us all see what you are rocking. bet ya you get some thumbs up and recommendations on mods.

I had buyers remorse soon as I left the lot.....a year later I still do. Mostly because I traded in my 2nd gen and almost feel like I downgraded. I never had the issues I have had with my 3rd gen.

But it’s a love hate. I love how the truck looks, but hate how it feels. Almost like getting the hottest chick to prom just for her to fall asleep before you guys get home.....boring.

But out of all the mid-size trucks out there the Tacoma is the only thing that tickles my fancy so I’m with it.

Sorry my smitty just came out.....I feel better now thanks.

    The answer is simple.

Close TW for a while and drive the truck. All my “issues” went away once I did this. Well all except the dam squeaky clutch when it’s between 25-50 degrees.

My transmission learned by about 1500 miles then the shifting was better. Or I forgot how a normal vehicle shifted. Either way around then it seemed more bearable. 6th gear is still pretty useless. I’ve yet to have the truck hold that gear. Usually lock it out if under 75.

Let's see if we can ruffle some feathers via roast

Some first genners are pissed because they haven't made it to crew supervisor status and they have to keep checking their under carriage for rust. It's the same feeling that you get after having unprotected sex with a woman in the slum dorms at Fresno State you end up over analyzing every bit under carriage for a perceived infection.

Some second genners are pissed because they're still trying to pay their 2006 off even with the big job title of store manager. Also compounding the problem is the wife's addiction to MLM's and they have a basement full of unsold shit. The 2005-2012 owners also suffer from an inferiority complex because the front end was only something a mother could love.

Some third genners are pissed because they're five payments in and the likes, up votes and general circle jerking is waning down. The wife has asked for divorce because she needs him to stay at home on the weekend and watch the neurotic dog which has chewed the legs off two sofas that weren't even paid off yet. Why does he need to stay home? She needs to get her boss lady on by selling Mary Kay.

I dunno...my 2017 was a good vehicle but not a GREAT vehicle or a GREAT truck.

It was slow, got 13mpg, the rear suspension hit the bumpstops with a near empty bed, the transfer case failed, the seating position was horrible, the sun glare off the radio screen was horrible, the stock music artist graphics on the radio were horrible, the lack of remote start sucked, the rear seat of the crew cab was horribly small for car seats, drum brakes in 2017, no adjustable seat height sucked, the lack of a remote locking tailgate was mindblowing, the center console was tiny, the guage cluster plastic scratched way too easy.

It was a decent vehicle though but there are better vehicles with better fuel economy and better features for cheaper

It’s not easy to go from sporty car to a truck. Owned a long line of trucks with a GTI in between my latest Tacoma. It was hard for me to make the adjustment at first. I’m a truck guy for multiple reasons and need the utility of a truck for my other hobbies. You need to adjust your expectations or go back to a car.
Put a few more miles on it and see if you can adjust. If not, move on. Life is to short.

The more you browse TW the more things you will find you dont like about your truck. Stay off it for a week, take the truck out to do some truck stuff and you'll remember why you made the decision you did.

I also went from a BMW to Tacoma, but I also really enjoy camping, offroading and exploring. Once I took this bad boy out I forgot all about that 330xi

Also try driving in ECT in S4 for city S5 for highway ,honestly changes the way the truck drives if I want to feel more "sporty"

My dad was thinking about buying a new truck and we test drove a couple new 3rd gens. I feel the power is adequate. This is with 4 adults and a u-turn going up a steep hill too. But my dad says it has less acceleration than his 1st gen. LOLs

I have a 2014 and had zero problems so far. Its also slow, unless I get into the boost. But hey its a truck. I can carry stuff and tow my car trailer, and I cannot do either of those well in my BMW.
