    20 paid

    Updated

For those that are coming in after the 20 people. I am still doing the $5 fee that we all had to pay. What ever money I get over the $100 group charge I will donate towards the OF4WD. Next year when we do this again. We will try and get everyone on board earlier so we can get the biggest discount.

Hey everyone, Not too worried about a timeline. I know some of you have sent the e-transfer but it hasn't come through on my end yet. Sometimes they take a long time, other times they come right in. I have updated the list. We are almost there. Considering I started collecting yesterday, almost everyone has paid which is awesome and super quick. I understand some banks are slow from the new years and some people are back to work/family stuff. I figured by the weekend we should be all good.

I have accepted e-transfers. We are all setup so I just have to send an email out once I get the rest of the transfers (we did pretty good for a day).

Contribute to the club fee so we can all get cheaper Ontario federation of 4 wheel drive meberships. Drops it from $50 to $25 if we set up a club. Plus $5 to cover the club registration. If we had gotten more people initially it would have been cheaper.

I’ve never taken my truck off-roading and I’ve never heard of OF4WD but I’m interested. I’m a college student and I mostly use my truck for work. I live in the city too so no trails in the area. I’m very new to the off-roading and Tacoma community

What’s the advantage of the membership? Does it give you access to trials? My truck is a stock TRD Sport with regular Nokian snow tires so there isn’t much hope in off-roading without the money to burn on upgrades and repairs

Is anyone in this thread from London area ? Curious because I always see Tacoma’s around

Just gives you access to the trail maps but theyre crown land . You can go without membership .

Other than rays place which is $10 or free to of4wd.

You don't have to remain stock. Just sell a kidney or be financially irresponsible and Max out that credit :spending:

But really depending how much you want to do can do most of it stock.
If you're not sure of it yet come out next year and try it out . See if you like it and go from there

That’s how it all starts. Did the same thing with my truck, using it for work through school and it slowly got built up for off-roading and road trips. Lots of info around here. There is a few members from London in the group. There may be a snow run but most of the trails are up north (perry sound, minden etc).

Trails are free but the site gives you the maps, trail ratings and also part of the fee goes towards all the work that the administrators do to keep the trails opened as well as them vouching for offroad trails at municple events and what not.

I appreciate the info, I’ve never been up to parry sound but this summer I really want to get out more and do more camping with the truck. I don’t want to put big tires on or a lift on the truck though. I’m trying my best to make everything last as long as possible because I can’t afford expensive repairs or a new used truck

I would kill for one of those roof top tents though, that is the coolest mod to me

My truck is pretty old and high km, my money is going into tackling the rust and maintaing the truck right now. I don’t have any friends that are mechanics so I try to learn and do as much as I can myself.

I'm from London. And there really isn't anywhere to off-road around here. To get started though you don't need to do anything to your truck. There are lots of trails suitable for stock trucks, just not close to London.

Definetely don’t need to lift it to go camping. Some of the trails we camp off on you can take a stock truck down (personally have done it). As for repairs. Your on the right site. Holler if you need any help/info.

Rust... that's an excuse to buy a grinder, wire wheel, and rust paint, and learn the magical qualities of fibreglass and bond! I unlocked their secrets many moons ago when naively buying a '79 CJ7. I think the Jeep came pre-rusted from the factory. Eventually it had more patches than metal in the body.

Join my club then:cheers:. You are capable stock enough, it's your 4x4 driving skill that would matter, which you can master doing South Trail at Ardbeg.:bikewhoops:

So, with Bier Markt being closed off 427/QEW :annoyed: we can go either to All Stars in Mississauga 4096 Confederation Pkwy, Mississauga OR off the HWY400 3130 Rutherford Rd, Concord

@tacoma16 can you make a poll for the location, so we get better idea where to have next wing night.

I appreciate it, thank you very much. Are you handy with Tacoma’s ? I’ve been trying to work on my truck as much as possible while in the off season of work and school hasn’t started back up. I don’t have a garage so I’ve been outside in the weather this past two weeks with the truck. The cold weather really slows me down with how much work I want to put into the truck. I love my truck and I want to see it go past a million. My biggest problem right now is my hitch came seized in the reciever, I want to keep the reciever but it’s very hard to get the hitch out. I’ve tried almost everything

The frame is pretty rusty but not penetrated, the bumper is rusted through the bottom though
How much 4x4 driving do you have to do before overheating the diff ? I’ve heard about people overheating theirs but I don’t have experience. I rarely use 4x4 on the truck because city driving is 2wd

Use a wire wheel or needle scaler to take as much rust off the frame as you can. I used Metal Ready and POR 15 with good results treating the areas cleaned of rust. POR 15 requires painting to protect if from UV light. Unfortunately the rust did in that frame in the areas I couldn't reach as it rotted from the inside and stress fractured along the engine mounts, but other parts survived. Make sure you wear safety goggles, dust mask and gloves!
