Overseas midsize trucks can do both, but they are all diesels. The streets are more narrow over there too lol.

But you buy it knowing what it can do. Here in Merica, we buy, we realize it isn’t what we want, or expect it to opperate like something in the next class of vehicles, we bitch that it’s a shitty product and the engineers are all wrong.

Oh, and the 3rd gens will not do the 140 the speedo reads, at least without some computer adjustment. It will reach the triple digit “limit” without an issue, about 27 mph short of the 140.

Tell that to the 1st and 2nd Gen guys who are getting big gains with their blowers. 2nd gen guys are going from factory 236hp to 400+hp and still maintaining daily-driver reliability. 1st Gen guys are still racking up big miles on their superchargers.
The 4.0L v6 came from the factory severely dialed down.

Keep your useless gains. I’ll take dual cases.

Forced induction is a superior method. All major auto manufacturers either have it or have experimented with it. Example- Ford spent mountains of money on the EcoBoost. It's a huge success. It's all in how its tuned. From crawler to track s/c's and turbos are where it's at. Mine's closing fast on the 400hp mark. It's a reliable, daily driven work truck. I can also spook the beemer boy on the freeway.

It’s more like says the guy in the “superchargers were abandoned on this platform by engineers on both sides based on the sheer stupidity of supercharging this engine” so sad the smart people jumped ship.

Toyota basically re-worked the entire torque/fuel map and VVTI algorithm. There are TSBs for the new tune, but each TSB requires that there is some per-existing issue (surge on idle, or transmission issues)

However, regardless of whether you have an issue or not, the new tune will greatly improve your drive-ability and low-end power.

All 2019 models have the new tune, and Toyota has publicly stated that the new-tune improves engine performance including more low-end power.

I made thread about the Toyota's announcement regarding the tune because I wanted to get the word out. However, the thread got locked because the Toyota Defense Force (a group of zealous Toyota fanboys) attacked the thread declaring that the new tune was unnecessary and that the Tacoma was perfect from beginning.

I have had the new tune for 3 months and 2000 miles. It's very necessary if you want to have a pleasurable driving experience especially if you drive a manual.

That's why I abandoned the platform too. Didn't want to resort to excuses why "mid-size" trucks don't need more power.

I take it you’re not a Porsche guy. I’d take a cayman/boxster for the track and a 911 as a DD any day.

What do I know, I’ve got both though so that doesn’t mean much lol

There probably aren't going to be superchargers for any new Toyota engines....ever.

The new corporate V8 runs on the atkinson cycle as well. The I4 does too. I think I understand what Toyota's future plan will be: there will be at most three engines (not including diesel) for all of it's vehicles.

An Atkinson 3.5 V6, with the only real difference being different tunes, and a Turbo charger or Hybrid assist version.

An Atkinson 5.0 V8 -- most likely the Tundra will get the Atkinson 5.0 and the Turbo 3.5

An Atkinson I4, with a turbo charger for higher trim models and hybrid assist version.

I admit that the cayman has better balance as as a true mid engine car which is perfect for the track. I appreciate Porsche in motor sports but you are right, I’m a Ferrari guy. :)

Do you happen to have the paperwork still from the dealership showing which TSB they installed?
