Got my rears from Accutune installed today. Decals are upside down, but I don't think I could change that.

Going to work on the front tomorrow, but what to set the preload to has me dizzy.

I asked accutune to adjust it for 180 pounds of added weight to the front (steel bumper/winch/twin compressor/sliders, etc) and adjust for driver side lean, but shocks came in with 1" of threads on both. I'm a little disappointed by that since I paid $4k for the setup (including the leafs), instead of getting rebates elsewhere. Hopefully their tune really makes foregoing discounts from other places worth it.

I'll try using a 5/16 punch and WD40 to adjust the collar.

FOX 2.5 DSC and some other stuff too.

The 2.5 DSC with res fronts come from Fox with 16 threads exposed. It's very easy to adjust once they are on the truck. Just SLIGHTLY loosened the allen bolt and turn while the truck is up in the air. Also a word of advice....double check that the allen bolt is accessible once the shock is installed. If not loosen it in advance. Ask me how I know this.

Thanks, how much is slightly? One full turn? Would a 5/16 punch work or do I need an 8mm?

no more than three full turns of the allen... i believe it's a 3.5 mm allen key. the 5/16" punch is for turning the collar, you'll want no more than 27 threads driver side, 24 passenger... that's what fox says is max lift for these trucks - 1.925" of threads showing.

Thanks, so that 1.925" of threads should give 2" over stock (3" on a 2nd gen) with no weight added right?

What would your guestimate be to get 1" over stock with 180 pounds added?

I don't want to max out the lift so I can keep the ride smoother.

I only turn the allen bolt about 1.5 or 2 turns. It doesn't take much. The 5/16 punch fits perfectly. Just make sure it is fully seated before you turn.

I'm away right now, be back in town in a day and I'll get you measurements.

Side note. If I could lower it .07 in the front and an inch in the rear I would! Those medium duty ome dakars lift high

25.5 inches from Center of hub to Start of fender (bottom of fender/straight up the wheel well). The front was 23.5. I hope i'm measuring right, but i'm pretty sure I did.....over and over again.

The suspension has been installed for about 3 months now, and I run ZERO weight in the rear typically. I'm sure the rear will settle about .5 inches in a few more months.

I've had to turn that Allen about 4 rotations to get any movement. I also use the 5/16th punch and WD40

he will tune them for the weight. adjusting the shock height is more something you have to do once you have it on the truck. As each truck is different. Also, they will break in and you will have to adjust them in a month or so.
also, fox puts the decals on, not Accutune, so maybe email fox or buy a set of decals if you hate them :D I did that on a set of shocks recently too.

Thanks, yeah I forgot to mention it on this thread, but Ryan cleared everything up.

Truck is riding very nicely and the shocks aren't hard to adjust.

It definitely feels smoother than the stock Pro shocks.

Sorry for your troubles with the spacers, luckily we have a great relationship with Fox so we can work with them to resolve these issues when they arise.

We have tried setting preload here, but because every truck is different it has never really worked out. The few sets we did that way led to unhappy customers because they thought they wouldn't have to touch preload. We had a meeting about it this morning and we are going to implement a three part solution:
Figure out the best average preload starting point across a variety of trucks
Include preload setting on the invoice while being clear it may require additional adjustment
Make standardized adjustments to preload while re-valving

Hopefully this can help people install faster while still being clear that they'll probably have to make adjustments.

Truck looks fantastic man. In your opinion, do you think the 13" 600# springs work good with the Dakars or do you feel that 14" 600# springs might match up better, from a pre-load perspective. Thanks

Thanks! However, Due to the amount of preload (exposed thread) on my front extended length coilovers (at 2 inches of preload) I'd recommend 14" coils with 600 lb spring rate. This takes into consideration @*TRD* suggestion that 2.5 lifts or higher with regular weight (sliders and skids) should be with 14" springs at 600 lbs. If I'm interpreting it correctly and based solely upon the fact that my preloaded front shocks look a little excessive.

If your not afraid of showing 2 inches of thread on the drivers side coils then stick with the stock height springs. I'm going to wheel my rig and give it a real world test at the end of the month. Otherwise I'm not going to change a thing.

    Good luck! Post your results!

****keep in mind I'm running a 2.5 inch lift in front and a 3.5 in the rear (subject to breaking the rear leafs in which will lower about .5 inches) this is also based on another person's stock measurements of 21 inch fronts and 22 inch rear (stock 3rd gen)****

If you use your trucks bed everything will appear level [IMG]

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like the 14" spring will be my best option, 2" of pre-load seems to be right at the recommended limit from what I've read. And with the lift you get from the Dakars, it appears that you need 2.25" + of lift in the front to keep the rake in check. I like some rake, but I don't want the stance to look like a 72 Barracuda. Don't get me wrong, that is a bad ass car, but not the stance I want.

Thanks again, and as soon as I get back home it seems like I have finally made my mind up on what I want. This shit is maddening as you all are aware. It only took 3-4 months of reading to decide.

One more question, till the next one... did you add any shims to the rear? I've read that a lot of people add a 3* shim in and a lot that haven't or don't mention it. It makes sense in my mind but not sure if it is necessary.
