I finally upgraded with some rear facing amber's, so I won't be invisible in the dust anymore.

Its finals week right now, thank god!

I've got some bolt on goodies to add and I'll be ready for the trails (preferably southern ones at this point, BURRR!)

It appears to be a 1981 Hilux SR5 4x4 Longbed, judging from the tailgate font that is larger than what is found on the 1982 or this 1983.

I didn't get a chance to chat with the owner unfortunately but here is one more shot nonetheless ... pretty cool that a 38-year-old truck like that is still roaming across rough terrain.

This pic is also a nice illustration of tire sizes ... the Hilux on 31"s, my truck on 33"s and the 80 Series Cruiser on 35"s ...

They are the OEM Steel Wheels off of the base model FJ ... I got six of them used for $30 each out of the boneyard behind my local tire store ... had them powder-coated for $55 apiece. Not bad considering that I was able to sell my stock TRD wheels, tires and spare with 19K miles on them for just under a grand. I will note however that I did take a significant mileage hit, as they are nearly double the weight of newer alloys. Can really feel the increased inertia of the rotational mass when I'm taking off in 1st ... also more reluctant to stop. I get more comments on the wheels though than any other aspect of the build, so there is that!

If Inferno wasn't a thing, that QS would be my truck. It just looks so good. Nice pics man. Guessing that bed rack is a one off? Custom?

Thank you! Inferno was on my shortlist as well ... the bed rack is the older version of the , which apparently is only sold as weld-it-yourself kit now.

Napier backroadz tent arrived today. Hopefully I can do a dry run set up at home next week when these damn stitches get removed after my ankle surgery.
Amazon used like new condition $135.

Did read they are not seem sealed so I'll be doing that before I take it camping

I did a trip up the Lost Coast of California to the giant redwoods, tallest trees on earth at about 35-40 stories tall. Found some great dispersed camping spots and one night at a campground under the redwoods

Any recent trips down to Baja? or future planes? Ive been trying to go for awhile now to find some secluded breaks, and would love to take the truck down with some one who has been before.

From our recent trip out to Arizona. I wrote up a trip log if anyone is interested in reading it. It was damn cold but such a good time. The new KO2's did really well in the snow and the Tepui held up great other than condensation. Will soon have a GFC to replace the tepui though!
