Take the 38 next time. Always the way to go for sure. My boyfriend is from/lives in Big Bear and refuses to ever go the front way aka the 330/18

I've done that before, but that's the route that all the big rigs and tankers take...last time I did it we spent just as much time stuck behind them. But that might've been a better route yesterday since it was a holiday and not as many of them on road.

yeah when we got up into the city around 2pm, it didn't look any busier than normal for a weekend...maybe even a little less so. I think most people honestly just gave up and turned around at some point up the mountain...if we hadn't gotten off at Green Valley Lake Blvd then we would've easily spent 3hrs just taking the highway. I bet a lot of people turned around

That road is a nightmare on holidays. The back way through Mentone is better for when you NEED to go up during the holidays, but otherwise avoiding it all together is best.

yeah going back down was pretty bad too on the 330, we didn't even chance it. I wanted to take the fire roads back down to avoid traffic but my wife squashed that idea pretty fast lol, I don't blame her...the backseat of my truck is no place for a human being.

That sounds about right. It looked even worse behind us when we were driving down. Good idea taking the fireroad... Can't believe we didn't think to do that, coulda gotten some wheelin' in, killed 2 birds with 1 stone. lol.

Thought about the 38, but by the time we got back down the 330 it was 1pm.

Yea that was me and I noticed your truck last second as I passed you.
You didn’t see me pulled over by chp going up the 330 before that?

We had gone up to just hang around for the day but I saw the line up so I turned on live oak and basically turned back down at the 330/18 split

(Side note; how where the fire roads from green valley lake to big pine?)

Fire roads were totally empty aside from a few Jeeps, didn't even see anyone at the campgrounds. That part of the trip was fun lol. They were pretty well covered in snow and ice so I think most people stayed away from them.

    Why'd you get pulled over?

Nice; sometime in the future when I finally get a 4wd vehicle (probably 4Runner) I’ll drive up in there and get away from the tards in town clogging up the roads because they can’t drive lol

    Got a fix it ticket

Damn you're the third person that's told me that's happened to them lately up there...I have roof lights that aren't covered and go up there all the time, haven't been harassed yet but sounds like they're out to get us now.
