I shared the Toyota sales announcement for information purposes. Personally, it’s pleasing to know the vehicle I’ve chosen to invest tens of thousands of dollars in is widely popular. It hints at several positives: profitability for Toyota, continued Toyota R&D efforts to improve Tacoma features, longevity in terms of availability of the Tacoma, continued availability of OEM parts, increased aftermarket availability of products/services for the Tacoma, consistency in resale vaule, etc. If you can’t see the positives in the Tacoma selling well, consider the current state of Dodge Dakota owners.

The Tacoma has been the best selling mid-size truck for years. Granted, the mid-size truck market is increasing in competition with the Ford Ranger and Jeep Gladiator, I don’t see the fact the Tacoma sells well as detracting from its vaule. Using your logic, Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, for example, would suffer in terms of value, but that’s simply not the case as the Camry and Civic hold up well financially.

Not seeing the camry or the civic anywhere near the top. So I'd have to double down on my logic.

None of those vehicles has any comparison to the sales of the F-150 which is all the way down at #7 for resale and losing over 10% extra depreciation than the Tacoma.

Yeah, the more mainstream the Tacoma gets, the better features its going to have (10 years from now), but you can't have your cake and eat it to. Once everyone has a Tacoma, and are selling used Tacomas, and when a New Tacoma has all the bells and whistles, an old Gen3 Tacoma will be worth much less than what a Gen2 is worth today. (relatively).

Most new tacoma owners don't know about TW until they've bought it and had to google "Tacoma frequent shifting, uncomfortable seats, whining rear end" and stumble here...only to find a bunch of unsympathetic assholes :)

    I guess that's "most" lol.
Maybe they eventually will learn to actually test something before spending $35K. Wait... no they won't. What was I thinking?o_O

Again, no argument over the TW membership numbers or whatnot compared to 3rd Gen ownership as a whole.

Toyota does not issue TSBs for no reason though (you and I don't know the complaint numbers WRT what triggers a TSB, and will never know).

Combine Ranger, Colorado, Jeep, Ridgeline sales together a month, cannot meet Tacoma....for a reason. Figure it out yourself!

What are you talking about the Accord and Camry are the two top selling mid-size sedans and also #1 and #3 for resale value according to your very own source:
    https://www.kbb.com/new-cars/best-resale-value-awards/best-resale-mid-size-car/

Civic and Corolla same thing, top in sales and top in resale value:
    https://www.kbb.com/new-cars/best-resale-value-awards/best-resale-compact-car/

Your idea that the more they sell the less the resale value has absolutely NO data to back it up, you're not using "logic" you're just making stuff up....

You fail to understand that resale value doesn't simply consider supply alone, its RELATIVE to demand. If toyota built 10,000 Tacomas a year but only 5,000 people wanted one they'd be worth shit down the line despite being "rare". If they built 10 MILLION Tacomas per year but had 11 Million customers waiting... you guessed it, they'd be worth a LOT more despite the 1,000% difference in production.

The link you posted clearly lists the Tacoma as #1 vehicle in terms of 2018 resale value, which is despite the Tacoma being the best selling vehicle in its segment for years. This seemingly disproves your previous post that resale value of the Tacoma will suffer because high sales.

As far as the Camry and Civic, just because neither of the two appeared in the Oversll Top 10 list for 2018 resale value doesn’t mean the two vehicles don’t hold value well, despite being segment leaders in sales.

Toyota Camry ranks in Top 3 for 2018 Resale Value-Midsize Car:
    https://www.kbb.com/new-cars/best-resale-value-awards/best-resale-mid-size-car/

Honda Civic ranks is the Top 3 for Resale Value-Compact Car:

Your math is off, but you make a good point for people that can't see how well the Taco does.

Its not, it just means they will continue to add useless bull shit to the trucks making them more car like not to mention more expensive, all in an attempt to sell more Tacoma's to the Ridgeline crowd.

Because most people are sheep and they want to be like the other sheep.

Didn't mean "most" literally. Just that most new tacoma members recently have been complaining about stuff they should have noticed long before sitting in the finance office.

You and I both know that "most" tacoma owners aren't even on TW. They are out enjoying their trucks instead of spending money and worrying about it. lol
