If you mean the road that goes due north out from bar10 ranch we did not. Wanted too, but it would have taken too much time so we went around instead.

Unfortunately not too uncommon on a ceramic clutch, they tend to wear out the flywheel and pressure plate before they wear out

 

since we're on the topic of the manual trans...I've been getting this metal "TING" sometimes loud sometimes soft, when I go into reverse and start backing up...any ideas? Dunno if it's related to the trans directly but it sounds like it's coming from under the truck where the trans is.

u-joint maybe? I keep them well-greased regularly

 

Ujoints or the slip yole in my experience, makes the driveshaft ring like a bell

 

You would think the clutch disk would last a long time, but mine only lasted three years. I read somewhere that ceramic clutches wear out quick if you do lots of slow gentle starts. Well that's all I do, both on and off road. I really don't think it was the right clutch for me. Glad to be rid of it actually.

I almost have everything back together, but had to come in for some lunch. Just have one shift lever to put back on, and button up the inside. Then the drivelines and done. I spent a half hour trying to find one of the inspection plate bolts I dropped. Had to take my skid plate off and finally found it buried in some mud on top of my front dif.

 

damn, I keep those well-greased but I used to over grease the slip yoke back before I knew any better (makes a goddamn mess underneath the truck when it's spinning lol). I wonder if maybe that's caused it to have issues.

 

Finished up my elocker swap this morning with my TRD vinyl from @CBoy808.



And while I was at it, threw some stickers on my hitch.

 

I dropped my shocks off so my fabricator can get started on the @ARCHIVE rear shock relocation kit install. Grabbed some updated pictures of the front bumper build we just wrapped up. Not loving the light bar placement now that it's all together, but that was my input, not the fabricator's lol.

 

They do, they're high clamping force and they act like a lathe if you slip them. You treat them almost like binary, build enough revs and full release. You can still start softish, but you can't ease them out slow or you'll turn the flywheel like a brake rotor.

 

The ujoints are most likely culprits, if it's any consolation mine has been doing it for 3 years and still is fine and I grease them regularly. Kinda like when a CV starts clicking you could have one month or one decade left before it goes out haha.

 

Yea, I should have researched it more before buying it. That was back before I had discovered Tacoma World.

I wonder if the donut-james was the driver of the white 2nd gen. IIRC, his name was james too. That guy and truck were imfamous on TW for a while.

 

Ha I saw that and remember when that blew TW up. But nah I doubt it's the same guy. Donut James doesn't seem like a Tacoma owner, definitely a car guy not truck guy

 

About time! I haven't watched it yet but that guy cracks me up. I love the Everything Your Need to Know/Up to Speed series.

 

Same I watch that and Science Garage every week. Only thing is when they were talking about 2nd gens they showed a 1st gen and then when they were talking about a 3rd gen they showed a '12-15' but other than that I enjoyed it

 

The kinda butchered the 4runner one the same way, but at least it was interesting. Didn't really get Land Cruiser models right either but close enough that an LC guy won't snap your head off. Well an LC guy will snap your head off for acknowledging an FJ Cruiser as a land cruiser though

Exactly there isn't a real good way to get EVERYTHING about a cars life into a short video that doesn't leave the viewer bored or watching an hour long video

 

Hey guys, I bought Cabelas seat covers for my 03 double cab. They're universal and have straps the go underneath the seat but the rear seats don't fold up and there's very little room to get underneath. Any suggestions on how I should install or should i just spend the money on some custom fit ones?
