Finally got my RCI sliders delivered. Couple questions for those that have installed any slider really. First is if I am not able to get help do you guys have any tips or tricks on nstalling them alone? I have jacks, jack stands, etc. and I am mechanically qualified to install them it's just the lifting of that weight alone issue. lol.

Second question is how many cans of primer and paint did it take you guys for bare sliders? Don;t want to be running back and forth to the store for more paint. Thanks guys.

I haven't installed sliders, but when I do hitch receivers, I balance it on a floor jack and roll it into place and then jack into position.

Edit: You may need a piece of wood between the slider and the jack, to position the jack correctly.

    1. find the center point of gravity for the slider.
    2. place slider on jack
    3. lift jack into place.
    4. start bolting it down. given the fact you've removed all the brackets in order to place your sliders in.

    1. buy more than less cans of spray paint. i'd say 2-3 cans. if not you can always return it.

Floor jack will hold them up just install on a level surface. Where are you located? I’m sure you can find some help for a 6-pack

Once it's in position using the floor jack, you can then add a jack stand or two to hold it in place at either end. Partially threading a few of the bolts should help, too.

Thanks. If I can get access to a neighbors rolling motorcycle jack that would work great as it is much wider. I am in San Diego.

Why not simply ask your neighbor to help and offer him a beer?

I installed them over the summer. The front bolts are mega PIA. I used a small wire to put through the hole and wrapped it around the bolt and pulled it through.

Buy a bunch of primer and or paint or whatever you need. Use that you need and return the rest. That will ensure you have what you need, and you won’t have to keep making trips or have a few extra cans you don’t want

I have the Mobtown Offroad sliders. I installed them by myself using a little muscle, floor jack and jack stands. Just go slow.

Used two jack stands to get close. Used a scissor jack to push it closer. Did a one armed Superman to push it home, the other hand got the first bolt in. The first bolt near the center (of gravity) was the hardest. Second pair of hands would have been nice but I managed solo.

I installed mine alone using a floor jack and a block of wood. I got it balanced before going underneath. Start the easy to get to bolts first. It was a little bit of a pain but not too bad. If I remember right I used one can of primer and 2 cans of paint on each slider. That was almost two years ago and they still look good.

Thanks guys. I do have two floor jacks and 2 jack stands so I should be able to get it up there if I can't find a neighbor around.

Motorcycle jack would do nicely if you have a flat driveway/garage floor. If not, you can support the weight of one end on your chest (laying flat on a creeper) while using a jack stand down by your feet. Lift the end closest to you up and get one bolt snug in the cross member, then get one bolt in the other end down by the rear. From there you can do the rest and torque everything. I used a jack stand over a floor jack because of the deeper cradle.. I wanted to minimize the chance of that end sliding off whatever was lifting it while I was under there.

    Too few to list.
My sliders have plates. I used 1 can of paint and 1 can of primer for each side. I installed by myself and used two jackstands and a floor jack. I placed the slider on the jackstands to get it close to the frame then used the floor jack to align and bolted in.
