On my recently purchased '16, pre owned, it would not take fuel. I noticed a good amount of pressure in the gas tank when pulling the gas cap. Hadn't had a chance to look to into it yet. Then this morning, I start my truck and get the "Trac off" and Check engine lights. I stop, pull the gas cap...No excess pressure now. Replace the cap and I still got my lights. I haven't pulled the negative cable yet (Sitting at work) to try and reset it. Any chance i got too much tank pressure and blew a hose or seal somewhere?

With issues like that, I'd take it directly to the dealer for them to figure out.

That sucks man. I’d start by pulling the codes using a scanner. Some auto parts stores have a scanner and will do it for free.

. . . "it would not take fuel"

You mean you couldn't put fuel in the tank?? Like something blocking the fueling tube?

I'd do some more research on the "pre-owned" thing.

    Dealer.

As is, it would click off constantly due to tank pressure.

So i got code P0031 and P0051. Both 02 sensors. Doing some research, sounds like that could be a relay being that having them both go at once isn't common. Ill swap the relay tonight and see what i find with it. So maybe this and the gas tank not venting are not related.

I just bought this truck on Monday so its pretty frustrating. I called the dealership and they are helping over the phone the best they can at this point. Problem is, I'm 500 miles away. The closest dealer at all is 200 miles the opposite direction.

Those lights set (trac off/CEL) when the gas cap is not properly installed, or the cap has failed. One of those is the reason you didn't have a pressure release when you opened the cap.

It would be unlikely for the cap to be bad on a new truck. Unless someone swapped you an old one from another truck? I mean it's not like they are gen specfic.

*Sometimes* not taking fuel due to pressure is related to the pump itself (nozzle rate too high). Sometimes it's related to the vehicle emissions systems.

I'd ignore the O2 codes for now, make sure the cap is properly installed, then reset the ECU or clear the codes with a tool and see what happens.

Then try a fillup from a different gas pump and see what happens.

Before I got the codes, I used 2 different gas stations with the same result. That was Monday. After getting the codes this morning, I messed with the gas cap. I didnt have excess pressure but I also only have about 1/4 tank. Not sure if that is why. Tried to add fuel from another station and same issue. I had a NAPA reset the codes for me and they came right back.

Was the previous owner a drug dealer by chance? Is your gas tank full of cocaine?

I'm in Central Nevada. 185 miles to the nearest one.

I've tried fueling with the ignition on and off.

I checked swapped the relay for the O2 sensors, reset the truck, and no joy.

mats, flaps, and stickers. Extang solid fold 2.0. Mobtown sliders and full skids. AVS vents
Had a work Chevy do this once, brand new truck. Filler tube was compressed, and melted together. Most i could add was 1-1.5 gallons before it would shut off. Check your filler tube. Dont know why that would throw codes though.

Excessive pressure and fuel spitting back during refueling is a typical sign of a blocked or plugged vent line in the tank !!

I'll be pulling the vent line off this weekend and see what's up with it.

Stuck vent sucked the fill tube flat and collapsed it.

    Update:
Got the codes cleared. It was a fuse, not the relay. Now to figure out the "hopefully" plugged vent hose so the truck will take fuel.
