Hello TW! I thought I would do a little write-up on my experience with the X-Trek grille. A few months ago, I acquired a 2018 Tacoma Off Road. Great truck but that grille…… I don’t care for the stock grille much at all. I couldn’t stop looking at it and cringing. So, I looked through all of the options I could find and didn’t much like any aftermarket grille or OEM replacement. Then I stumbled on the X-Trek grille and loved the look.

I ordered the grille and mesh insert from X-Trek. The grille and mesh insert was shipped very fast and arrived packaged very well. I also ordered the “TOYOTA” emblem and a black grille surround from other vendors. The emblem doesn’t come with the grille allowing you to use any emblem or design a custom one. I used a black grille surround just because I didn’t want to use the stock chrome surround.

The quality of the X-Trek grille is very good. Clearly there was much thought and energy put into the design and function of the grille. I like that. The installation was straight forward and the directions that come with the grille are good. The TSS system seems to be working as original although the directions say to have a dealer re-calibrate the TSS after the new grille is installed.

Lastly, I want to mention that I like to support small innovators that offer unique products. We want to support these artists/small business people. It is better for us all. I’m sure it is a lot of work to bring a grille to market and a lot of R&D and headaches. Thank you X-Trek for this great product.

In summary, I’m very happy with the X-Trek grille experience. Two thumbs up! :)

The black garnish is the trim piece around the grill. I just used an OEM black version instead of the stock chrome.

And...Haha.....not nuts, it is a cow bell. I have a thing with cow bells on my trucks. ;) I've always had one.

    Dang looks super clean.

Thank you so much for the honest review and supporting the small guys, all our products are 100% made in the US.

It's awesome to make cool products but it's ever cooler being able to add value to customers and have them love it.

Thanks for the information Inferno! The price adds up when you combine the grille, emblem and surrounding plastic, but it may be the best looking grille option. It looks great on your truck.

Thanks! Yeah, it does add up. You can leave the chrome surround. It looks good. Or paint it black.

Thank you, what I recommend doing If you're trying to save on cost is to paint the black trim piece with some plasti-dip and get the vinyl decal rather than the badge. Over time you can later upgrade to the Toyota badge and ultimately get the black trim piece. Basically just spread the costs over time. There's probably some members on here selling their black trim piece as well.

OP - Any chance you’ll be offering the slim center line any time soon? Will pick one up either way, but figured it might be worth the wait if there was something in the works :)

At the moment there is nothing in the works on going through on that design. Although I could probably make you a custome one but it’d be a lot more

Yeh it would be a few hundred more, anything custom isn't cheap.

But good news is the way as it doest look too bad even with the chrome trim piece.

I'd say pretty simple, if you can take out your current grille, screw in 4 screws, and put a bolt on a nut, you should be capable.

If you'd like I can send you the install guide, just PM me your email.
