I have a 2015 D-Cab Prerunner V6 that last turned on earlier this morning (04 Jan 2019 around 0630) , then when my wife tries to turn it on in the afternoon around 1300-1400, it started real quick then shut off. Tried to turn it again, and now it only cranks but won't start. Gas is at 1/2 tank. Battery still works, all lights on and horn works. Thanks in advance

Pop open your gas tank cap and listen at the hole while your wife clicks the truck to 'on'. Listen for your fuel pump to kick on. If It doesn't, that's a semi easy fix.

Welcome Precy to TW, have you checked the battery terminal connections to see if they are loose or corroded?

I had the same problem in the middle of the desert. I cleaned the MAF with MAF Sensor cleaner. Reinstalled. Disconnected the battery. Stepped on the brake - to clear any potential capacitors. Hooked the battery back up and I have not have an issue. That was about 3 or 4 years ago.

If everything electrical is working but the engine won't turn over it's most likely a fueling issue. The fact that it started once and then died really points towards a fueling issue.

@Markcal Thank you for your suggestion and quick reply, unfortunately, that was the first place I checked thinking it could be starter, battery, alternator and terminals.

Alternator failure would not keep it from starting.

If you can get access to the throttle body inlet , remove the intake hose from the TB .Next with a can of starting fluid spray it directly into the TB . if it starts but immediately shuts off , your fuel pump is dead and needs replacement

Swap fuel pump relay with another. Check all fuses? Under hood and under dash?

(sorry about caps) FUEL NOT REACHING THE FUEL INJECTORS. CHECK FOR CLOGGED FUEL FILTER OR LINES AND DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. ALSO, MAKE SURE TANK VENT LINES ARE CLOGGED.

The nice thing about the solution that worked for me is that you don't have to get your hands messy or remove the fuel tank. :)

Water in fuel will cause these symptoms too, as will dirty fuel injectors and timing chain broken.

I'd just check the to see if you can hear the fuel pump or not first, and if not then go check fuses. If you've got a burnt out fuse, replace it, carry a spare, and if it does it again you might have a clogged fuel filter or something, and hopefully not a worse problem.

And I would not rush to the fuel issue until you first check the fuel control (MAF) and clear the computer.

All the usual diesel truck mods- fuel system upgrade, programmer, CAI, intake manifold, 60MM stealth turbo
Throwing this out there- cam or crank sensors will keep it from starting.
