Update: I replaced the seat on the passenger side with the same model that's in the drivers side. The fit is worse actually...

Oh, and I bought a Crewmax Tundra with the end of year sales going on. :spending:

Had relatives over for the holidays. I had to cram a 3rd car seat between the ones for my kids. Luckily, I had a Diono that fit the middle seat because the Recaros are bulky.

I'm glad to see this thread is still relevant and helpful. I've still got my double cab with the two Dionos in the back seat!

My wife and I are expecting #2 this summer, so I did a test run today with our seats. I've been going back and forth on maybe considering something larger. I do agree with everyone, it's doable, but being comfortable for the passenger (mostly my wife) is questionable. We always take my truck when we go places (like visiting family which is roughly a 6 hour drive). We do this 4-5 times a year. We've always been fine with the 1 seat.

But, with this set up I tried sitting in the back next to the seats and I couldn't sit there for long. Very cramped and uncomfortable for me. However, my wife might be able to sit there just fine. I will see what she thinks later today. The front passenger seat definitely has more room for her than the back seat with this set up. But, I know with baby #2, she will prefer to sit in the back.

If we can survive until baby #2 turns around and kid #1 goes to a booster, load and pack our stuff efficiently, then we can make the Tacoma work. This would keep me happy.

Doesn’t seem too bad once they can all face forward

It was fine with two. Worst part about two forward facing was the little feet in the seatbacks. Three was too much. My oldest was in the middle and had no leg room so her feet were constantly on the center console. Also, the two outboard seats were pushed out towards the doors by the middle and that didn’t seem very safe.

For those that came before me, I am looking for some good procedural advice. Just got 2 Radian RXT's on a super sale from Diono.

For those of you who have installed them in the center (rear facing) and behind the passenger (forward facing,) is it best to get the forward one in first or the one in the center? Getting the top tether strapped behind the seat is a pain and I'm pretty sure adding a second seat will make it even more fun.
    Any advice will be appreciated!!
