What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Your power steering pump reservoir screen could be clogged.

I have what I think to be a failing fuel pump that sounds almost identical to a whining power steering pump. I usually have stuff in my backseat and I originally thought it was coming from the engine bay. I removed the PS belt and still had the noise so that was ruled out. I've noticed the whine seems to stop when I let off the throttle so I'm leaning toward the fuel pump.

 

Those whines can be so many different things. When the water pump went in my 22re, it made a PS like whine. Idler pulleys can make similar noises too once the bearings get so seized that they wont move at all, that happened to the same 22re too. Still have the pulley, that bearing will not spin no matter how hard you try.

Thankfully it wasnt that bad when we caught it, still kinda intermittent. Basically we heard it, then took it in to get it fixed. Cant recall if they replaced the belt or not.

Yeah it is for dirtbikes for sure. I just take the dog up there when no one is around.

How are you breaking dowels?

 

Fuel pump should be pretty easy to determine, if it's louder when you're near your gas tank then it's the pump. I have the typical Walboro fuel pump whine so I'm very familiar with what whining fuel pump sounds like lol. I can hear it in the cab sometimes but if I put my ear near the gas tank it's much louder.

 

Spent the last two days ,i work slow. Replaces the lower control arms with a set of stock arms with whiteline bushings. I thought id be clever and make the job easier by replacing the inner and outer tie rods while i was at it. Still ended up having to move the steering rack. Mainly on the drivers side. Off to get it aligned in the morning.

I thought the passengers side was the only bad side but im pretty sure that the drivers side bushings were further gone.

 

The latter by far. Should have used a bigger one as in thicker handle.

 

The one I used was 14" long and the handle was like 1" at least. Tapered to 3/8 slowly.

 

Only does it when I'm driving, at idle everything sounds normal.

Shittsburg punches are terrible.

 

It was as though someone had taken the brightest yellow paint available, mixed it with sunlight, and spread it throughout the landscape. We were truly lucky to be here - a week before or after and we'd have missed this spectacular display!

Dang. Did you loosen the allen nuts on the collar hat and lubricate the threads? I've never had to put that much effort in cranking my CO's.

 

Are the oem radiators Denso?
