Hey, my buddy has an '08 EVO and for the past week has had a hard time clearing error codes.
To sum it up his boost gauge stopped working so he messed with the wires and got them running again.

But now he's getting the error code B212c, (his fuse is okay and he's getting power to it), he also lost all control over his ventilation system. He's got air blowing at the feet but he can't switch it to other areas or change the temp. it comes out at.

He's also getting warnings for his airbag, traction control and I forget the 3rd..

Would anyone have any suggestions on how he can get the codes cleared and things to run properly again??

I can post a link to the thread he's created on the evox forum if that could help.

    Thanks for any input!

He can get it flashed to clear the codes, but that won't help his ventilation system. Check for blown fuses.

He has checked all the fuses he could find, all of them seem to be good and are getting a charge.

He's tried clearing the codes too but nothing that he's tried doing has worked so far.

Could a wire have been fried? Loose connection?

Should have got an STI. (EVO's are still seksi though)

I've heard that the Lancers & EVO's have problems with the doors inside the heater core/evaporator box behind the dash. When I worked at a Mitsubishi dealer as a lube tech I seem to remember seeing the other techs removing the dash's on those alot and replacing a plastic gear or something like that on the hvac box, so that could be the problem with the ventilation system.

As far as the codes go, it could be anything. No offense but the EVO's were pieces of crap. I always thought they looked cool, they were fun to drive too, but every single one I saw come through the shop was either brand new (no miles), or a huge piece of abused crap.

It's a possibility I guess.. really can't say, I'm not knowledgeable enough in the wiring side of things. (Should have paid more attention in science class I guess, lol) If a wire is fried would it still give a positive reading on a test light??

That's the best suggestion I've seen so far (as far as the ventilation problem goes). Thanks! I'll pass the info along

    Honestly, couldn't tell you.

All I know is that if you can't fix it with a hammer...it's an electrical problem.

I own an '08 Evo myself. I'm looking to sell it to pick up a Taco, but not because I don't love it. I love mine, had 0 problems since the day I bought it. Evos and STis end up in shops a lot because people tinker and don't know what they are doing.

As for your friends problem, it sounds to me like one of his wires is frayed because he didn't run the wires correctly and thus it's not grounded properly.

I've done a lot of electrical installs and even fixed up cars for other people and most of the time the culprit was someone not using the right wire or connectors. I've seen some pretty scary stuff. Bare wire's being plugged straight into the fuse box, electrical tape connecting wires together... These are all scary because if the tape get's snagged putting things back together or gets pulled apart it can short things.

Also does he hear a clicking sound near the fuse box? If he does it's most likely a fuse even if he thinks he checked them all, I suggest pulling each one and verifying. A lot of times the tiny little boogers look fine until you shine a light directly on them.

I like his car too, it's a sweet car and the exhaust he has on it sounds amazing. I can hear it rumbling from up the street when he comes over hehe.

Back to his problems, he's not the one that did the mods on it, he bought it used last fall and it was already modded out. From a few things I've seen myself though, the previous owner didn't really know what he was doing.. some things were pretty sketchy...
I'm not worried about my buddies' capabilities.

There isn't any electrical tape or bare wires going anywhere (thankfully), bad connectors is a possibility though.

    Thanks for your input

No Problem. If you guys lived closer I would offer to take a look with him.... Is he aware of evolutionm.net or evoxforums.com The guys there can probably give him a hand and/or help him find someone local that knows what they are doing.

    P.S. - Mine is for sale... ;-P
