I'm not sure if anyone is interested in a post like this. This is a two week old 2017 DCOR that I was in a wreck with in Nov. 2016. Someone pulled out in front of me and I hit them running about 50mph. I walked away from this accident without a scratch, granted, every airbag in the truck went off. I've always been a Toyota guy, but never had to test their safety systems until that wreck.

Has anyone else had a major wreck in a Taco?

    FYI: The truck did total.IMG_3851.jpg

Truck killed itself to save a life. Looks like it's working as designed. Go Tacos!

I've bought 2 since this one. I have a good friend that owns a Toyota dealership so he is always good to help out.

I ended up making money on this one. I've never lost money in selling/totaling a Tacoma.

I tried stealing the bed cover off this one and the insurance company wouldn't even let me do that.

Glad you're okay @festerwallace . Was the other driver cited for being at fault? Was there any dashcam footage? Getting a front/rear dashcam installed on my '18 was a priority for two reasons... 1) To have a witness in he said/she said disputes and 2) to record my off-road adventures so that I would always have them to reminisce with in my golden years.

Crazy thing is, the other driver admitted fault and called his insurance company at the accident scene. I live in a pretty rural and hometown place so most people are very honest, but I'm getting to the point where its not a bad idea to get a dash cam.

The other driver was a 19 year old kid driving a 93 GMC pickup. He had a pretty good size bump on his head and a few cuts but for the most part was ok. He was very apologetic and was worried about my truck. He said about 20 times that he was sorry for wrecking my new truck.

Alright I suppose I'll share. I wrecked my new white truck last November. I was driving home after a double shift at work and fell asleep hitting a utility pole head on. Lots of lessons learned and I'm extremely thankful to be alive. Similar to OP, all airbags deployed and it was deemed a total loss. I suffered a mild wrist sprain and significant bruising to both calves from the leg airbags that come out from under the steering wheel. These are safe trucks, you guys.

I had a small bruise on my shin from my accident. Didn't notice it until a couple days after, but I figured out it was from the knee airbag as well.

I guess white Tacos are bad luck.

I've learned to always pull over somewhere and catch a cat nap after letting my Mrs know what's going on. She does the same thing. Glad you walked away safe!

This was from 13 years ago. Lot of bruising but no broken bones. Full size Chevy pickup with 18 ft trailer ran a stop sign. Yes, it hurt.

Glad the truck did its ultimate job, sacrificing itself to save the occupant(s).
