Thats kinda how I bought my truck....I emailed every dealer within 100 miles of Alexandria and made them fight for the best price on the truck I wanted. Once I got the lowest price....I just had Priority Springfield price match.

 

Certainly. I did that when shopping for my truck. They took a bunch of photos and all rusty, so I thanked them for their time and that was it.

 

Thats how I did my crosstrek as well. I even started off by telling them that I wouldnt even come in unless they could guarantee my out-the-door price would be less than MSRP.

 

I wish there was ONE of what I was looking for within 100 miles.

 

You can also compare dissimilar models as well. The biggest thing is to act like you dont need the package specific components like a locker.

 

True, acting like I'm not looking for something specific gets tougher when I show up from 300 miles away though......

 

Yea, understandable. But the second they figure out that they got the exact and only one you want within that distance, you are SOL on negotiating downwards.

That's why you don't show up. Contact and negotiate through email until you find the right deal/truck.

 

exactly....and don't give them ANY information about yourself. Get them to give you a written quote and then you can travel to pick up the truck after negotiations are done.
