And that’s your opinion. Much like what I posted is my opinion.

And I will drink beer with anyone around a campfire regardless of what camper, LOLRTT, tent or other camping gear they have. Just better be CL smooths being consumed because that’s how I roll

And i use my truck like a truck too.

I can. But you can find them too.
Just search water leaks or water intrusion in the GFC thread search bar. Plenty to check out

hey tacomgee- because I also need to use my truck as a truck I'm curious how you pack up gear for a trip. Are you using the better built box for power distribution?

    thanks

I am. I have my second battery, air compressor, blue sea fuse block and solar controller in there.
This is pre solar, but you get the idea.

I just strap in a couple frontrunner packs with some camping gear and my fridge and I’m pretty much ready. I’ve downsized a lot and made things much more simple and compact.

You missed the perfect opportunity to slip on a Big Lebowski reference.

In all seriousness though, I’m a big fan of the Drifter and have been since Iggy first posted the V1 in his build thread. It really came down to whether a Drifter or GFC could be completed in time for me to pick up on my trip south earlier this year and the GFC fit into that timetable. I wouldn’t be sad if I owned a Drifter in the least.

I park in a city garage at work. I am about to put in an order on a Drifter, should I be concerned? Is it vastly different in any dimension category to a GFC?

I know the roof is a little bit higher, but since I’m not lifting my truck, shouldn’t it be okay? Lifted trucks with tires would sit higher than a GFC, no? Can they fit in standard city garages?

I’m not sure how much taller the Drifter sits but it looks like at least a couple inches. Does anyone know? I think either of them will fit in a standard 6’10” parking garage with a stock Tacoma.

I have a little bit bigger tires and I’m planning on getting their solar panel rack set up so I did some research in the GFC height before I put my deposit in. I figured I will still be able to fit in my 6’10“ garage at work but shorter ones might be tight.

Not the same same person but thank you! I just measured my stock 3rd gen TRD Pro and I was 51 inches to the bed rail (including maybe an extra half inch of tire height over stock).

GFC is 29 inches above that So my truck with a GFC would be about 6’8” without the solar panel. I’ll be really tight at work if I do the solar panel so I’ll have to look into that when they start selling the mounts.

Drifter should sit just under 6’10” without the fan on a stock 3rd gen.

Not including the two prototypes, there's 28 in the wild and 3 near completion (95%). And most were built when we went into full production in mid June. We're getting faster though and are in the early stages of another batch of 6. It's been a mix of reorganizing our two units and production this week as we streamline our processes and maximize the space we're working with. Getting setup for the new year!

31" above the bed rails and 33" with the fan. My truck sits fairly high, but it's mainly due to the tires and overbuilt rear springs. It still doesn't hinder me on the trail, but I ruled out parking garages after getting the Flippac 6 years ago.

Pro tip: On the trail, stay behind someone with an RTT on an SUV or campershell. You’ll be lower.

Pro tip #2: DO NOT just assume that a parking garage quoted at 6' 10" means you're golden at 6' 9.5" ....or even 6' 8" for that matter.

Can anyone chime in on this:

I have a stock 2018 double cab TRD OR. I don’t ever plan to get bigger wheel/tires, only change to all terrain but keep stock size. I also want to upgrade the suspension to accommodate the Drifter, but only return it to stock height and level it. Will I have problems in most city garages? I won’t be mounting anything on top of the Drifter either, but it will have a fantastic fan.

The real question is how tall is the garage?

I sit at exactly 7’ with my camper on.
But i have deavers, TC LT and 35s.

Like I get to park in my truck in the garage....
But good question, I had not even though of checking. I'm still working on a build plan for the truck. I'm not looking for a bunch of lift but I plan to add weight to the front as well. I'm stuck between doing something like the teraflex Falcons and airbags with cradles, or selling a kindney and go with Kings and deavers.
So many mods so little money.

Is that 7’ with or without the fan? I measured out that a stock 3rd gen would sit about a half inch under 7’ with the fan but if you have a fan I must have measured wrong.

That’s based on the measurements of 33 inches above the the top of the bed sides and now that I’m reading through this I think it’s 33 inches above the bed rails that the campers mount to inside the bed.

Phil do you have a time line when you will have your production time from deposit to built down to three months?
