Do you’re going after that one or you want me to still look at it this weekend?

No no, same truck. I’m going to go after the one I’d like you to check out this weekend. I mean I’m going to go ahead and get a pre-approval letter from my bank with a fixed rate etc....

So yeah if you have time to look at it this weekend that would be great. I’ll get my ducks in a row and if it looks solid to you I’ll contact the dealer Monday.

Is there any system in VA where I can register my guns serial #'s to my name?

Not that I’m aware of, no. The only system I know of is they can look up the original purchaser by serial but that’s it. That’s why I do a bill of sale with private sales in va.

Though if you went through an ffl for a private sale I would assume the new owner would be the one to show up in the system.

There is no registry or list in Virginia. FFLs are required to keep all paper forms for life but they don't put the serial number into a registry or list or system. (At least no lists that the Government admits to).

Why would you want to. If it's just for if they're stolen, then just take pictures and create a word doc or spreadsheet with make/model/sn and anything else you want to record. Then just save it all on a thumb drive or external hdd and store it in a fire safe or bank deposit box.

    This^

When you buy a used gun from a private party you can ask for a Bill of Sale to help protect you from any "baggage" the firearm might have before your purchase date. Same goes if you are selling a gun private party. I'm selling a gun this weekend in Richmond and I've got a simple BoS that he'll sign and we'll both get a copy. That way if he goes off and does something stupid it'll reduce the likely hood that I'll get charged with it. (Though it is a 45 year old gun so odds are it'll just sit in his safe).

Just wondering, I'm selling my Maverick 88 and I don't want it to be tied to my name at all beyond the acknowledgement that I sold it.
