Switch Pros 9100 install and BS thread

Figure I will try again. Anyone have any luck with the Harrop lockers and switch pro? Should be straight forward. I am troubleshooting the locker not engaging and curious if there is any special setup using a switch pro.

 

What is the diameter of the dymo labels you’re using? I got 3/4” and they look like they might be too large

Just coming across this and it's peaked my interest.

Can the switch pro be set up like a window switch too? I have a power up/down cb antenna, the switch it uses looks like it came out of a 1980s boat.

Pretty much what I need from the unit is to push a button and have it stay on for a few seconds, then if I push it again to reverse polarity and stay on for a few seconds.... If that's not possible I can just use 2 switches and wire one reversed. But mainly the timed thing where it stays on long enough to raise or lower the antenna.

 

To my knowledge not possible with the switch pro solely. There are some other modules out there that will do this though in addition.

 

You can set a switch for momentary press so that it’s only active while pressed. I don’t know that you can set one to stay on for a period of time and automatically turn off.

 

Installed a Baja Designs 30" S8 today. It has a amber back light that I also put on a switch pro switch (for now). With the memory function set to in and set to ignition, it comes on like the drls.

I still haven't hooked up the pink trigger wire to anything but am thinking of triggering the light bar with high beams. I assume there's a high beam fuse in the engine bay fuse box, as I think I used a tap a fuse on the low jeans for dimming the switch pro brightness.

 

Quick question, what if I want to use one of the last switch buttons from the Switch Pros (35 AMP) for a basic LED bar for example, how would wire it? These last switches have 2 wires that connect together when using accessories that require more amps, do I just connect both and lower the amps in the app?

 

I got a response from the Switch Pros vendor and yes, both wires from the switch will be connected to the red positive from the accessory, then set the amp output on the App to 25.

 

What are the best PowerTray-like options? Was sold on the PowerTray but I noticed in my instructions that they suggest to NOT mount the module horizontally... Santa dropped off a 9100 so I've got to figure out the "right way" to set this thing up.

 

I have a powertray and saw the same warning about installing it horizontally. From what I can tell, there has been only one switch pro user who has had problems with water contamination in the plug on the switch pro. My guess is that SwitchPro is recommending vertical installations just as a precaution to the unlikelihood that water works it way in. I use dielectric grease in that plug as a way to try and thwart this as well. but I wanted terminal box and a fuse box... and the powertray is the best mounting solution I found. You could forgo the powertray if you're not going to use another fuse box or terminal blocks.

Finally got mine all wired up! I also installed a set of KC Cyclone LED lights as engine bay lights. I mounted a flush mount push toggle switch to my PowerTray by drilling out a 3/4" hole and putting a rubber grommet in. I am sure you can see it in the picture below. I powered that using the fuse block.

Wow, excellent job man. The panel paint job looks really good as well! I REALLY like your Terminal blocks. What brand and where did you get those. I like that they have a cover.

What did you end up tapping into inside the fuse block for the white, blue, and pink wires? I did the Blue to AC/Ignition, White to High Beams, and Pink trigger to reverse.

 

I found the terminal blocks online via Amazon, used them and just used small self tappers to hold them in place. I did the blue and white white for now, pink one is just coiled up in there as I was I undecided for trigger use at the moment.

 

I've now gathered all my materials for a switchpro 9100 install. Powertray, blue sea fuse block, terminal block, and bus bar, and meso switch panel. I will most likely have a metric ass ton of questions in the coming days as I'm planning the install for Sunday. My first question is related to wiring in new accessories.

I have the KC cyclone under hood light kit, as well as some Baja S2s. With both of these options, they include both a switch and a fuse. I was planning on connecting the KC Cyclones to the Blue Sea block, since I have no need to control this from the cab. This includes an in circuit fuse which I'm assuming I don't need, since it will be fused at the blue sea fuse block. So I can simply eliminate the in circuit fuse, and plug that fuse into the Blue Sea yeah?

The Baja S2 Ditch Lights also have a fuse and a switch. I assume I can actually get rid of both, since the 9100 can handle both the fuse and switch.

Can one of you fine folks confirm my logic?

 

Yep, you are spot on. I normally put the fuses and switches in my spares box, then clip the BD wiring to fit my needs. I would HIGHLY recommend investing in a weather-pack crimper. Makes connections so much easier and cleaner and eliminates janky butt splices. Del City is a great place to find all of your weather-pack goodies. Helps that BD lights are already set up with matching weatherpack bits.
