Ok, so final post on de-chroming interior for now. The flat black enamel set up nicely, on the lower bumper AND on the inner chrome.
Just for fun and experimenting, I masked, primed and painted the mirror knob and 4x4 knob. Tricky and I didnt do a great job, but good enough until I can pop panels for these two and remove for a more thorough job.
Up next: 5100s and 884s. Gotta get that 1.5” going.

Did you follow a write up on pulling all that trim? I’m trying to find one but it’s kinda tough.

Mine is like that on the lower right corner of the left piece. It catches on my hand when I'm turning the wheel occasionally. I'm not removing an replacing the airbag to try and adjust it though.

I hear you, but it was not bad at all.

Going in even deeper, it was completely freaky pulling the airbag assembly and cover apart to get to the badge. I will say that it is a shear joy on every drive to see that bit of chrome gonzo though.

Where did you get the cover for the useless square hole in front of the cup holder. That's kinda cool.

I'm not a fan of chrome bling, but I think a little looks good in the right spots. Hell I even left my grill surround chrome when I replaced my grill.

The only think that is kinda sketch about doing this to interior pieces is they scratch so easy. I think parts like the console surround are going to wear like brake pads made out of compressed camel shit. Look inside an R50/R53 MINI if you want to see what parts look like that are always handled. The paint wears awful in these areas. I've been told buy more than a few people that rattle cans typically don't have enough flex agent or hardener in them to wear well

Very true. I was surprised to see how bad it was on my ex-boss's 1st Gen CTS radio buttons. Looked like ass at an early age.

I do have to say that all of my de-chroming is holding up well, only in it about a year though. There is one chip on my painted wheel center cap badges. I didn't do any prep other than a wipe with alcohol though.

The @rrentrop stickers still look stellar including the cup holder one.

I just did mine. It wasn't bad at all and I did not have to disconnect the airbag. Just unscrew it and flip it over, then remove two screws to release the assembly, then three more that are holding the assembly together. I then warmed up the trim piece with a heat gun and slightly curved it at the bottom. No more of that "cheap plastic" feeling.
