We have got to get back on topic here. So much CA shit the past few days. I’ve learned that I can never live there. Visit only. I will say that the last car I rented there willfully exceeded the posted speed limit. Oh, on a closed course.

While I'm not one who cares about the whole "you broke CVC's and posted a video showing it.." If I'm breaking conduct on a public forum, and the mods warn me to remove my posts, I would do so otherwise I'd expect some sort of ban.

Is there a preferred type of gasket material for making a throttle body gasket? I had used rtv and it worked fine but I was thinking making a gasket this time.

Separate note: talking to Scott (ucon) and he suggests the S1 tune until you get rid of cats due to higher exhaust temps with the S2 tune. I am talking to him about the DTST headers and he suggests OEM cats bc “they” have never seen an aftermarket set up hold up besides OEM.

My question to him was: am I negating any benefit of the DTSTs by putting OEM cats back on as far as restriction? I hate to spend the $$ on the headers and not get the benefit of it!!!!

I am looking for your guys’ input as well.

 

If it does not have the ability to have a rubber style gasket groove boosted into it I would suggest that felt style "do it yourself" style gasket material.

 

No gasket grove. Felt it is. Tapped my urd plate for my meth nozzle. Didnt want to punch a hole in my new intake.

 

I used Felpro blue paper gasget. It’s kinda thick. Good stuff. I got a whole roll from when I did mine, I can send you a good sized square if ya want....my roll should still be sitting on my tool bench....

So I did the jba headers and my dad did the thorley headers. We’re both boosted, and noticed slight improvements over stock. Nothing massive but if I remember correctly when we did them we still had the 3.0 pulley, and on a closed course the truck was able to spin the tires longer in 1st gear than before. So it had to give some extra low end torque.
The short tubes are definitely a compromise. Being here in California with the strict emission suggestions it was an easy choice to mod and still be able to pass a smog test.

 

And you are runnin stock cats I presume?
