But why not? Ain’t nothing wrong with loud exhaust and running no filter. Of course depends where you’re located. I just use a turbo gaurd on mines. My turbo 1gr sounded amazing. I don’t mind providing my own turbo.

He was breaking your balls, because no turbo in a turbo kit means no intake.

I think it is a very wise decision on Matt’s part to use cast manifolds as they will stand the test of time through all of the heat cycles and weight of the turbo’s. Yes there are tubular manifolds that are just as strong or stronger but they would cost some serious bank to have a really good fabricator make them (ie: Full-Race). It would also be nice to have a Vband turbine housing like the TiAl, not sure If the gt30 is too big of a turbo or not but I know they make vband housings for the gt30. The Vbands would really help with clocking intake and downpipes in tight area’s and also makes it much easier for servicing.

So is there an expected availability date for the single turbo kit?

no, still a lot of R&D to be completed, and Mat most likely will update this thread with any relevant info, just look for and read the OVTune posts

Mat's last release date projection was after Christmas, or at least near it, but that was also before he basically rewrote the tune code for 1.05 for our trucks. I think he originally intended to be done with the tune awhile back and things just came up, as they tend to do.

From my interpretation of what Mat has posted, there are no exhaust manifolds on these motors. They are built into the cylinder heads. So there will probably be some sort of connecting pipe or flange to mate the turbo to the exhaust outlet ports.

Turbo manifolds get stupid expensive, so with these motors, the lack of a true manifold should keep costs down.

Due to space on the drivers side bank, we have switched to Single Turbo.
    T4 Twin scroll EFR 7670.
It's already mounted on my truck, will show you guys when I get through 1.05

As I was installing my Bussman RTMR I was wondering where the heck you were going to fit a turbo over there. Seems like the only space is kind of deep down next to the block.

This would look really nice under my hood. Just saying.

That twin scroll looks like a great option for producing power while maintaining drivability. It also seems like it’s capable of getting the 450hp I’m dreaming of!

I think space constraints aside... a single turbo will be much easier to install and tune.
I spent many years playing with 86/87 Buick Grand Nationals... and they are stupid simple.
The stock GN turbo is only a 36mm unit on a 3.8 V6.

Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
Besides the tune... the hardest part will be mounting the turbo securely and piping the hot side.

Sounds like a turbonetics 350z kit Nightmare all over again.

Hard to believe 3 years now no FI. Think there’s something they aren’t telling us.

We haven't been working on this for 3 years. Hardest part is the tuning not the hardware. There is a lot more room under the hood than a Z for sure.
