I love canary wood. This is canary wood laminated with Apitong.

Finished up the river table top yesterday. I guess it's not officially a river table since I poured epoxy on the edges but whatever. It's made of two pieces of spalted white oak and epoxy that's about 1" thick. I'm very happy with how it turned out considering this was my first time trying thicker pours with epoxy. I should have the legs done in the next week or so and then it will finally be done! This thing has been sitting around for months now so I'll be very happy once I can finish it.

Overall dimensions are 24" x 24" x 1" Here it is on top of my tablesaw.

The Zip-Bolts rock! Luckily I had a 35mm forsner bit for my CNC. I took my time but it still went pretty fast. 80mm apart on center, 27mm deep (20 recommended but table is thick). Route 1/2 bit about 22mm deep. between them. Drop in the Zip-Bolt and use an included hex bit in a drill and 2 seconds or less to lock it down.



I installed 7 of them on the bottom of the table. It felt like 45 minutes to finish but the clock said two hours. I guess it does fly when you are having fun.

The board warped a little bit on the close end and made a little gap. That's going to drive me mad. I will have to fix it.

No butterflies or bow ties, I personally don't like that look.

 

I agree. I only asked because it seems to be the "in" thing to do right now.

 

So, I was given a Roto-zip for Christmas and I have no idea what to use it for. Do any of you guys use Roto-zip?

not sure but sounds like you dont have a use for it. So buy something else you might have a use for Ive seen it used for drywall installation...I dont do much drywall so I wouldnt have a use for it

 

I've used one for drywall and plastic sheets but not much else. Not sure what attachments are available for it. I'm more familiar with Dremel and their accessories but still don't use either of them very often except small carving projects. I tried cutting wood with a dremel before and it was very jumpy and sorta hard to be precise with. I'm not saying you have a bad tool, I'm just not sure of many uses for those style of tools outside of drywall or carving.

 

Works great for drywall I have never used it for anything else
