Hi everyone, i need some input i have 2018 Tacoma trd 4x4 and I’ve had it for almost a year, I’m very unhappy with the way the truck perform shift is very iratic and can’t stay at a comfortable gear when cruising, ive done the update felt better but still not happy, I’m willing to try the update again cause I think the dealer gave me the wrong update, i was told i can contact BBB and file a complaint what should i do????

No offence, but whomever told you this is a moron.

The truck shifts automatically because it is an automatic transmission. It will decide what gear to be in, not you. If you don’t like it’s decision making process, not much you can do.

Buy a different truck? I'm not sure you're going to have better luck on the new vehicles coming out though. Everyone seems to be adding more gears and getting creative with tunes to try and keep up with EPA demands.

Or you could hang on to it and see if Toyota issues any more updates for it while posting all over TW about how much you dislike your truck.

    Wah wah wah :sadviolin:

Exactly, this is not a CVT, meaning it has gears, no offense OP, let it shift and just drive it.

Your dealership is almost certainly a member of the BBB (accredited). The BBB will send them a letter, to which the dealership will respond. It is there, your BBB road will come to a dead end.

I’d bring it back and have them run a diagnostic to see what TSB was actually installed. If you still have issues, ask nicely for help with it. Dont just start reporting complaints. That other poster was right, BBB is not a reliable source for consumer reviews or help.

Aren't they supposed to record the TSB reflash version on a sticker under the hood?

There is only one ECU calibration that could have been flashed.... If you feel that the truck really is THAT bad, you have two options:
    1.OV Tune
    2. Get a new vehicle

Don't let the Toyota defense force put you down.

OVtune is an actual automotive computer programmer, and from what he has wrote on posts here and his blog posts, Toyota really messed up on transmission code.

To really fix it, he said he needed to break it down to machine code or assembly.

The ford ranger is coming out soon. It's a much better truck, and the ford 10 speed is probably the best transmission in the business at this point.

Yes, then you both can buy rangers. Park your Tacomas now so you'll get maximum resale with low mileage while you wait for your Rangers to fix everything you dont like about the trucks you chose over the others on the market to buy.

Then post here about all of that Ranger love, we might even get a Ranger subforum.

Drive it in S4 and shift it to S5 when on the highway (and back to S4 when you exit). It's a completely different truck when compared to driving in D.

Take the truck back to the repair facility and report the issues... if it can’t be repaired or “made better”, and you’re not satisfied, file a claim with corporate. If still no solution, file for arbitration... still no go, sell the truck.
