So you asked for a tsb that you may or may not have needed. Most TSB's require the tech to verify issue first by testing the truck..... at least take the tech for a test ride and show them what is bothering you.

Now I am just a small time coder that write programs in VBA and VB, and I definitely don't want to speak on something that I really have only a surface level knowledge about. However, Going that deep into machine language seems like too much to work to even be worth it.

If That's the extent that it takes to fix Toyota's outdated 6 speed auto, it's better to just get ford ranger.

There are different TSBs for different symptoms, what is it you want them to fix?

FWIW there isnt a TSB released to make you like the truck, just fix problems with the truck.

First put some miles on and let the transmission adapt to your driving style.
As others have mentioned try the ect button.

Second it does not matter what TSB they noted, the calibration is the same update. It addresses multiple issues.

You are only showing your ignorance of the profession. Matt isn’t programming in machine language, I can guarantee that. Assembler isn’t machine language.

And because something is programmed in assembler and complex doesn’t mean it’s bad. Quite the opposite. Fast and efficient is important for critical functions.

Next time just recommend to a poster they might want to consider software like OVTUNE to improve the performance of their truck.

Stating they should buy a Ranger because the ECU uses assembler or machine language and is too complex is just ignorant.

I’m not sure why you are here. You sound a lot like Smitty.

Much better truck? Based on what?
But if it were me I would give it a year or two before committing.

The new ten speed was actually a joint venture, GM and Ford.
I’ve driven the GM version in the Escalade. It’s worlds better then the 8 speed......... but at the dealership level we are still seeing some complaints.
    You can’t please everyone.

These shift issues are not a Tacoma only issue. More gears more shifting, all trying to meet mileage requirements and drivability. It’s all a compromise.

    Wait wait wait

Toyota “messed up” because some guy changed some operating parameters that made the truck respond more to the liking of a small minority of Tacoma owners, and with that, it obviously changed how the engine was MEANT to be managed? Your logic gate is malfunctioning.

Drive it for 500-600 miles and let it adapt to your driving style. You may actually like it. I didn't like mine out of the box either, but 1000 miles later it feels pretty good. But then I have 2019 which should've come with all the updates.
