Is this the same Ranger that requires the removal of a front wheel to replace the oil filter? Just askin'.

Like I said I only know how to code in VBA and VB, and I am not a professional programmer. I program MS office macros and Windows apps for financial models and reports.

I am even starting to learn Python and Java. However, If I need to figure out a script or troubleshoot, I just go to stackoverflow.

I have never even seen what assembly looks like because I don't need to ever go that deep. I know conceptually what assembly is.

I am highly ignorant of programming and I don't ever plan to be a programmer.mif If I said something incorrect I apologize

Apology accepted for the lack of knowledge on the subject of programming languages and abstraction.

I do think you should focus less on trying to denigrate the Tacoma. It is wasted energy here.

For the record, after the TSB, and running 91 octane, which I figured would be beneficial after reading OVtune's posts, my engine feels great.

It's way better than it was from the factory, and I all did was get the TSB.

    I don't have an autotransmission.

If it wasn't for the so-called whiners, Toyota wouldn't have put out a new engine tune. And OvTune wouldn't have grossed, what could be, 1 million in revenue investigating the engine and transmission programming.

If it wasn't for the so-called "extremely small minority" of whiners, I would still be stuck with the pure garbage original tune.

Such a huge improvement. If it was up to the Toyota defense force none of this would have happened.

So don't listen to them OP.

    A couple of things

1-Do you feel a difference post tsb or does it feel exactly the same?
2-I haven't heard of this tsb, is this the same file that everyone else including me has been getting?

Try resetting the memory by disconnecting the battery.

I really liked my performance post tsb but it eventually degraded. I resetted the memory by disconnecting the battery and after the relearning period in which I drove it a bit hard and also while using ect, it has been great.

Just use S mode. It does away with the learning aspect of the tranny.
If you need more, also use ECT mode.
Try S5 and ECT. 5th and 6th are both overdrive so locking out the top gear automatically cuts down and on the shifting while cruising.

    Otherwise sell it.

So why didn’t you just say this from the beginning.
Instead you put down Toyota and the engineers.....Ranger it better bla bla bla.
How is that helping the OP?

Ok, I am entering the fray here...this is correct.

The small "i" in both the engine and transmission stands for "intelligence." The transmission will "learn" your driving style if you are consistent. A heavy foot will eventually delay upshifts, a light foot will eventually shift sooner. I've owned a few Toyota cars and they do adapt. My new Tacoma does as well.

That being said, if there is more than one driver for the vehicle or if you change-up your driving style (city traffic/highway/off road) it is "confused" for a while in my experience. But there is a DCT button for that if you need it.

If after paying around with pedal acceleration, and some miles of driving in different conditions, you find you don't like Toyota's "intelligence" there are folks/companies out there that provide a different type of intelligence.

So you believe TW tears and thread-shitting caused Toyota to refine the software? Does that mean you're not trading for a Ranger?

And tell them what in the complaint? That the truck is operating properly? Come on man get your head out of your ass. If it bothers you that much then trade it on something you like better.
