Only because they have bailed him out in 6 of the 8 games. He's let up 6,5,4 and 4 goals so far and has looked like shit. I'll give him last night but the Jackets still hit the post and missed the net all night. If andersen gets hurt we are really fucked

 

Sparks is a bum

 

Andersen is hurt. Like I said he has things to work on but I’m not in a panic mode if the team can respond to protect him. A .910 save percentage with his GAA shows he’s inconsistent but has the skill to be at the NHL level in my humble opinion.

 

TO acquires a backup, or option, for Sparks while Andersen recovers:

I’ll add that I wonder if the hate on Sparks has a lot to do with comparing him to noddles. With no doubt Mac is the better goalie but Mac is also in his late 30s and an anomaly as far as backups go. You just don’t see many teams running a backup goalie that can do what Mac can do due to the dilution of talent amoung 31 going on 32 teams. Take it from someone whose watched the Flames locally for a long time, Sparks is a serviceable backup as long as the team can win in front of him. When it goes the other way you have a problem. People forget Mac was noodles in Calgary and couldn’t win a game when he was in net. That’s why Calgary got rid of him. If that were the case with Sparks in TO I’d have an issue with Sparks but as long as the team can win with him in net I have no issues with him. Plus I see upside in Sparks, you don’t get a .910 in the NHL by fluke, he’s definitely making some saves.

 

Yeah nothing wrong with pushing Sparks and Hutchinson cost literally nothing.
