    Got my baby back today. New rack and pinion and p/s pump with towing and loaner included $0 on a $2600 dealer repair. Glad I bought the warranty from TFS when I bought it used in 2013. Loaner was an 18 SR5 with a 4cyl, thoroughly unimpressive. I plan on keeping my '12 forever.

    It just lays in there. The door seal holds it in place. No way it can come out.

    That picture you see is me pulling the door seal away, far enough to see the vaccum line.

    I can get a pic of it in place if you want

    Hope it works for you. I commute about 50 miles a day. I trialed it for about a week. A couple mornings it was windy and I noticed zero kazoo sound. Hopefully I've solved it. If not, I may need to step up a size.

    BTW...4mm = 5/32

    I appreciate the info, I have been living with this noise on my 2013 from day one driving into and out of Atlanta every day (retired now) I am going to give it a try and if I have to go up a size it is an easy fix. The sound on mine is magnified due to the fact my Hearing aids make it sound like a freight train :confused:

    2 years ago my kazoo noise was intolerable. Put some home depot wetherstrip up there and haven't heard a peep since

    Yep. 8' cut in half...4' per door. That took me from a couple of inches from the top corner to a 2-3 inches from the mirror...with a few inches left over.

    Just start at the top corner. It's thicker up toward the top. So I just started right after that area and worked my way down.

    Just pull the seal back and run it under it.

    I went with a smaller diameter and didn't go all the way into the corner like that. The bulk of the kazoo noise comes from about a foot up from mirror. The revised OEM seals only address that area. So what I did was overkill...in terms of length.

    My 1 week trial seems to have worked. My original piece ran from about 3 inches from the mirror to about 18" up. As I mentioned previously, I replaced it with a longer piece....that runs about 2-3 inches from the corner and mirror

    This is the kind of info you only find on this site. I always look for ways to re-purpose stuff for what I need to get done. Great idea and thanks for sharing.

    Well, AC Dog Platform is done and installed. Complete with one very skeptical puppy... Also, yes, the bed of my truck is where most of my projects get done.

    EDIT: I took the rear headrests out, too.

    Yep. Toyota has a revised seal that addresses the kazoo noise as well as the squeaky corner noise...2 separate issues. They're rather pricey. So I opted to work with the original seals.

    I addressed the squeaky corner with some of this...recommended by folks from a VW forum.
