    I did my first set of Lexus GX470 sliders for a customer and man they were short little baby sliders lol. My Tacoma long bed sliders are 95” long and the Lexus ones were only 64” long haha.

    @Shmellmopwho
    Can you post a pic of your welding table and the link?

    I don’t have a good picture in my phone but you can see the table top in this picture that I have on my phone.

    Here is the link

    https://weldtables.com/

    I have a 2x3 table and a 3x4 table that I put together to be 3x6

    I also got the leg and caster kits too.

    Thanks,
    I'm looking to either buy a table or build one myself.

    These literally are the best bang for your buck. I love having the holes. Makes clamping and jigging things soooo easy!!

    Was that a buying factor vs building one?

    Absolutely! Loved all the 5/8” holes all over the table which is great for clamping and hogs and stuff and if I wanted to make one myself it would have taken forever!

    Are you buying the tank? Renting? Or getting one filled?

    In this part of the country AirGas only sells the smaller tanks 80cu ft and smaller but things might be different down there

    Straight Argon will cause undercut on your mig welds on mild steel.

    @Jamesboy2233 for mig, I think you wanna use either C100 (100% CO2) or C25 (25%CO2/75% argon).

    I’d say go with a bottle of C25 for mig on mild steel. A 125 bottle by me was about $300 before the section 232 tariffs. I’d expect that it’s more now. I bought a smaller 80 bottle of argon this last July for aluminum spool gun stuff and it was $350 to buy a filled tank

    What are the pros and cons of the C25 vs C100 for MIG?

    You’ll end up with more splatter with C100. It’s a cheaper gas but c25 typically gives better weld appearance

    That was in my misguided youth so long ago .

    I have not seen 3 phase with the wild leg in years . I used to know the differences between WYE and Delta but it slips my mind now.

    Very seldom see 208VAC sometimes in older sections of the cities

    It comes down to this the 25% Argon and 75% CO2 was brought about for manufacturing to allow less cleanup time in finished Goods

    These being something that is seen all the time by the buyer

    This was the line 40 years ago myself it was an excuse to market a blended gas at a higher price although it does do what it was blended for.

    Straight CO2 burns Hotter does splatter quite a lot more .

    For the 120VAC welders I always used the straight CO2 then it was not a finished product I was working on

    It comes down to cost and space why have 2 cylinders that do the same job just get the blend and be done

    Whats everyone’s opionion on preheating spindles when welding gussets on them? I see some people do nothing, while other bake them on the oven, weld, and do a slower cool down.

    I figure preheating won’t hurt anything so I was gonna bake them in my oven at 250 ish for like 15 min, weld, then stick them back in the oven and turn it off so they cool slower. Or maybe a bucket of sand?
