Took 3 days to make the track. Now i need to destroy it. Local kids thought the can runn it after we closed. They got hurt.


The person who won the race had my fav sled. It was a john deere liquidator. It averages 120 on the track.

You used to be able to communicate by rf from here all the way to Washington state but there are breaks in it now.

For most of us on here we use the DMR digital radios but we also have local DMR repeaters also. But, it’s not a problem if you don’t because there’s a little thing called a hotspot that you plug in and connect to your internet and boom. You have your own mini repeater anywhere you can get Internet. At hone I have to use one because the repeaters reach ends at the ditch in my front yard. Plus I have a metal roof on the house so I pretty much have a faraday cage for RF inside. Anyway the handheld (HT) I have works on digital or analog frequencies so I’m covered on both. I’ll mess around a good bit on the digital side talking to people in England, Canada or Australia a good bit. In the truck I’m just analog with my mobile but could connect through the all star nodes if they are available where I’m at.

We’re kinda fortunate here with a really active ham club that mostly younger guys so we have a lot of fun talking to each other. We have some really badass repeaters here too. One is probably covering a 80-90 mile radius and it’s on a 450 ft tower. You can use it to talk to the guys in Alaska on it.

Other areas have done of the other digital flavors such as DMR MARC, WiresX or D-Star. Mainly depends on what’s local as to what most go with. Some have more than one which we do but most have chose DMR (Brandmeister) which is growing quickly and more receptive to new things than the other ones.

I talk to Max up in NH a good bit on the digital side.
