If youre ever up in the Bellingham area LMK and you can check out my RCI sliders. I haven't installed them yet so you can take a good look at their construction etc.

Yet 3rd Gen owners install 6” lifts that require chopping and drilling holes in the frame. Go figure :der:

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
When you remove the bolt on's you can sand and re paint the frame. Not a big deal compared to the amount of money and time you would spend without sliders at all.

To be honest I think most sliders are all pretty similar. Get ones that are made with DOM tubing, that you like the look of and that are close by if you don't want to pay for shipping. I always find the slider threads funny cause pretty much everyone just says to buy the ones that they have bought but its pretty unlikely that they have tried more than one or possibly two of the many options. That being said I bought Mobtown cause they have a more advanced bolt on system. I'm yet to receive them but I'm confident they will be top notch and the guys over there are very professional and customer service oriented from my experience.

Thanks all that helped me get up to speed here, I learned a ton and I think I’m ready to make a decision. There are multiple great options but I think I’m going to pick up a CBI set at Mule outfitters, which I just discovered in Issaquah today.

    Thanks for the plug.

I don't ship, and I include the install in the price of the sliders

I only do weld on though, which can be a turn off for some people. I do use DOM tubing. You can choose either full DOM or square tube inner. Also can upgrade to add fill plates to keep that special pooch or small child from breaking a leg getting out of the truck.

I ended up ordering CBI sliders via truckbrigade.com so thank you very much @topaza for that tip on the free shipping. They also didn't charge sales tax like cbi does ;).
Went with kickouts, no top plate, bare metal, bolt ons. Figured I'll paint it myself...seems key to being able to maintain the paint yourself on a thing like that.
The RCIs and the Mobtowns were also very much in consideration (though as a guy on here says, just pick one, they are all pretty good and are simliar). I really liked how bomber the Mobtowns attach, their bolt on system really does look the strongest...but the CBIs seem to be good enough for what what I want.

Thanks again for everyone who contributed, as I get more familiar with this forum I see i'm by far the first person to ask this question...but I do think there is value in asking it again as there is always freshmeat with fresh solutions/ideas/products. Looking forward to protecting my truck against carts at the mall.

Hey Jim! Though I chose to go with bolt-ons for this one, would be good to know someone local who knows Tacomas and knows welding...where are you based out of here in the PNW?
