As I read through some of these threads I’m blown away by some of the complaints about Tacoma’s I’m seeing. Maybe it’s just the times we live in but I never imagined people would wish their trucks to be more high tech with more and more nanny electronics and complex systems. I on the other hand wish for a simpler vehicle with less unnecessary electronic dodads and fewer things to fail down the road. My only complaints about my truck are it’s complexity and it’s a bit on the fancy side for my liking. So here are a few of my wishes for a Tacoma and I would even pay extra for.

Eliminate electronic traction control systems and offer a selectable front locker.

Add manual T-Case instead of stupid electronic knob

Eliminate carpet and replace with rubberized flooring with drain plugs.

Eliminate TSS and all other nanny electronics.

Those are a few of the things I wish I could change about mine but overall it’s a good truck and is used for the purposes it was designed.

Keep in mind this truck isn’t meant to be a dedicated off roader, it’s main purpose is to be somewhat sensible on the road as well as off it

Yes I completely agree but it’s roots are as a very utilitarian vehicle. Im talking about more of a work truck model offering

Why not get the SR trim level with the rear seat delete?

I see a TRD in your avitar, may s if the SR trim could have the TRD package like the 1st gen trucks you would be more pleased?:notsure:

I think that you need to change the title of the thread to reflect this, as it is more accurate....

    Right..

Simple fix. Sell it, buy an older 70s or 80s truck. Used extra money for mods. Flooring already has a rubber mat in most, drill a hole and put in a rubber grommet.

Use left over money to finance a Tacoma forum covering de-modifying and de-computerizing gen 2 and 3 Tacoma’s. :D

I sold my low mileage 1st gen a few months after buying my 3rd gen. I really like the 3rd gen and the SR didn’t come in double cab MT or I probably would have bought one

My only complaint about my 3rd Gen is that I don’t have anything to complain about.

    Kind of feel left out.

I’m just the opposite... the more tech the better for me. Perhaps Toyota could offer an additional trim option for the gen 4 (they can start engineering now)... a no tech 1980 equipment version with only minimal changes to meet federal compliance regulations. That way folks could have roll up windows, manual keyed door locks, manual wheel locks, manual transfer & differential cases, plastic seats, rubber floors, etc... nothing makes off road cleanup faster than using a garden hose to wash out the interior.

One should understand the difference between a claim and a complaint.
