I’d use paper where it went thru
But if it didn’t I’d just float it smooth without tape

I prefer mesh. It lets some joint compound get under it and make a better hold.

You can spray and knock it smooth with a trowel. To me it's easier to spray on and knock it down than to spread it manually.

[IMG] I am a DIYer and don't do it for a living so that's my opinion.

You are covering OSB not drywall. They act different. You can cover the OSB with drywall but that's not what most want to do.

Why is wall texture a thing?

I hate wall texture makes me feel like someone is trying to hide something.

That being said I only ran into texture since moving to the west coast. So maybe it's to cover up earthquake damage?

It’s quick, home builders make money on how fast they can slap up a house.

It’s cheaper than floating it smooth.

Carpet down the steps(wrapping the last board) and on that side of the room. About 3 feet past the support beam all the way to the back wall(green board) will be 12mm pergo.

The tile has a neat little history and will be preserved under the new flooring. My wife’s great-grandmother had the house built in the 1950’s. They drove 12 miles to town every evening for 2 years to the Zanesville Mosaic Tile Company and took the extra pieces they did not need to make the basement floor.

Got all the boards cut and my door opening measure put for the short run of my temp wall. Wife got the walls sealed and mudded. Sanding and paint tomorrow. Then the first bit of wall can go up and then begins measuring 6 times and cutting once for the 17ft run of wall. Relaxing with a cigar now.
